LIBERIA (07028) Our Travel Adventures ( 2007-08-14)

Greetings from the Liberia team in Brussels, We had difficulty with transportation and rain so I was unable to get out the last report of the team in Libeira. So here is the wrap up. Tuesday it was raining but we continued to work on inside jobs of cleaning and also working on our Debrief program. The TMI container arrived on Wednesday, so we were able to get the floor oiled and started to move the TMI equipment in, all of the O.C. parts, kitchen things, literature, etc. The guys worked on one shelf for putting the things on. Thursday I was going to look at another place for Boot Camp but the car wouldn't start. We tried pushing to start it but somehow it just wouldn't go this time. The Director of the school wasn't there so we were not able to find out the secret. We tried again on Friday but it wouldn't go either. The Director of the School said she would call a mechanic so we were hoping that he would come. He did but he was not able to fix it (it was pouring down rain). It seems the coil and the distributer needed something and he said he would be back the next day but he didn't make it by the end of the day. The Director of the school did take two team members and I to get our last food supplies so we were able to have all our supplies before we left. The rains were pretty heavy all week. The nights seemed to bring rain as well as the days. We were able to get everything cleaned up before we left in spite of the rain. Friday night we had our team banquet. We had hamburgers, beans, potatoe salad and our first and only no bake cookies. We had a candle lite table as it was kind of dark with the rains. We enjoyed the meal with our Malawian coordinators. Sunday we had a little bit of rain but not like the other days. We were able to get packed up and cleaned up by noon. The van would be coming for us at 1:00 but it came at 1:30. We were at the airport by 2:30 but they wouldn't let us get in line until 3:30. We seemed to be the first in line there wasn't a lot of clear directions as to what they wanted but we made it through all the places we had to go and were in the waiting area until the plane came. It was a bit late. It wasn't the normal plane that the airlines uses because their plane was in for repairs. We had to fly to Dakar which is in Sengal. There we waited from 9:00 p.m until 12:00 midnight. This is because they were having trouble getting the cargo doors closed and maybe some other things. You could hear the pounding of a hammer under neath us but I was hoping it was just them trying to get the door to close. Everyone was pretty tired and were hungry as we just had P & J in the lounge area before the plane came. But by 1:45 we were having fish or beef, salad and some other things. They served us a croisant at about 4:00 am later before we landed in Brussels. We had to wait in the area for our luggage for a long time as I guess they couldn't get the cargo doors open—wish I could have had the hammer to help them. But finally 8:30, Liberia time (10:30 Brussels time), we were pushing through the customs doors. We took a taxi to the hotel. We were checked into our rooms by 1:00 and then got something to eat, back to our rooms for some great showers/baths and by 4:00 we were out looking at the city for sovenirs. The team members found a few things but we are lookingforward to going out again tomorrow. It is much cooler here than Liberia and so far we haven't had any rain! We will be leaving the hotel on Wednesday and should be on our way to the States. All are looking forward to getting back to our home place. The team continues to stay heathly. God continues to speak to each of us thorugh our personal devoations as we share each day. Even though there has been lots of rain, we know the Lord has used the team to help with the Libeiran team members. Its nice to say we haven't had any rain this time for the Liberian team. Parents, family and friends thank you for the many prayers for our team this summer. I'm sure the team will have many great stoires and adventures to share as to how God has worked intheir lives. We pray that you will rejoice with us and the changes that God has brought about in each of our lives.
