Known as the Warm Heart of Africa, Malawi is one of the most welcoming places you can visit, despite it being amongst one of the poorest countries in the world. Share the story of Christ with the locals, while helping to provide for their medical needs.
Ministry: Your project for the summer will be to travel to remote villages providing reading eyeglasses and basic first-aid. Not only will you be able to care for the physical needs of the people, but you will also be able to share the Good News of the Gospel with them! You will use dramas, puppets, Bible stories, and songs as tools to share Christ with the children and parents who come to receive medical help.
Travel: After Commissioning, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to JFK International Airport in New York before boarding a flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Nairobi, Kenya, and then on to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. From the airport you will board a bus to the remote village of Chipoka where the headquarters of Teen Missions Malawi is located, on the shore of Lake Malawi. From the base, you will travel to the remote sites to hold the eyeglass and medical clinics.
Adventure: At the end of your summer, you will have the opportunity to do an overnight safari in Liwonde National Park. Be on the lookout for elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, lions, and many types of antelope! You will also visit the local market to barter for drums, wood carvings, jewelry, and paintings, as well as beautiful fabric to help you remember your time in Malawi.
Project Expense: $4990 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee
