Amanda Evans Newsletter (Fall 2024)

Hey Family and Friends,

Back to work with everyone!

The summer time was a little different for me this year. I did not go on a team. I stayed at our headquarters in Merritt Island to be a part of the Launch Team (the best team). We were the team of staff and some students that stayed back to keep things running at the base while the others were out on teams.  There are a lot of jobs that must be done while so many are away from the office.  We have to man the phones, post reports on the website, maintain the grounds, and keep up with finances, among other things.

During Boot Camp I had the privilege of taking people to and picking them up from the airport. I also ran errands in town picking up supplies, etc. My regular job that I do during the other nine months of the year also has to be done during the summer. So I worked in the Finance office and mailroom taking care of those tasks. I also enjoyed helping with the tech side of the live stream at the rally in the evenings.  It was nice that I could go home at night to my own bed, but I did miss leading a team.

This summer we also had two retreats that came about nine days after Boot Camp. That gave us more work to do; however, both groups were great. They enjoyed staying in our newly- renovated Legacy Lakes Conference Center rooms.

It was a very short time after the retreat groups left when the first teams came back for Debrief. It’s always fun to see the teens after their summer of service and to hear their stories. Each team has the opportunity to give a presentation so they can share different aspects of their summer.  During Debrief I helped in the kitchen.  There is a team assigned to KP for each meal. It was my job to make sure they cleaned the kitchen and dining room properly after every meal. Even though we’re cleaning, it is great to be able to work with the teens.

Hundreds of people heard the Gospel message this past summer because over 210 teens gave up the comforts of their home to go spread the Good News overseas.  It takes many hands and feet, and people who are willing to do different tasks so that this ministry can continue to share Jesus.  YOU are a big part of this ministry as well.   THANK YOU so much for all of your prayers and for giving financially in order for me to be here!

In September we enjoyed a few days of staff conference at a retreat center in Melrose, Florida. It was fun to get away as staff and talk about the last year of ministry and have a time for fun and games.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
