Amanda Evans Newsletters (Winter 2025)
Hello Family and Friends,
¡Feliz año nuevo! Happy 2025!
In November 2024 I got asked if I would go to Bolivia right after Christmas for their first Boot Camp. So I prayed about it and it did not take long before I knew God wanted me to go. I raised the support needed and prepared to leave on December 28th.
So figuring out what to do before I left, spending time with family and I still wanted to help the homeless ministry over Christmas time. So it was a very busy week. But I was excited!
I left for Bolivia on the afternoon of Saturday, December 28th and got to Santa Cruz at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. I was able to get a couple of hours sleep and since it was Sunday it was not going to be an extremely busy day. It was awesome to be back in Bolivia. We had church and the four teams practiced their presentations and enjoyed some free time. After dinner, they had a talent show and then someone shared. Finally, it was bedtime.
The rest of the days at Boot Camp started with the Obstacle Course then breakfast and then Devotions. They also asked me to teach a Bible class. I looked over the notes and then I met my translator, one of the team members on the Brazil team. Her name was Ana and she was from Colombia and did really well. Most of my days were spent helping in the kitchen.
On Dec. 31st we celebrated New Year’s Eve. We only stayed up till 10; however, we heard fireworks throughout the night and longer. We had Coca-Cola, pork, sausage and salad. I figured out I could understand more Spanish than I thought, so I would try to practice but the kids wanted to practice English. One rally I was able to share about Teen Missions.
As it got closer to Commissioning, it got busier with making sure the leaders knew what they needed to know. We got candles ready and then put together boxes with tracts and candy so the teams could go around to share the Gospel. All the evening rallies were filled with cheers, presentations and dancing. After they were commissioned each of the teams spent time together and prayed. During the last few days of my time in Bolivia, I got to hang out with the Brazil team and helped them out. I am glad I had this opportunity to go out!
I got back into the States on January 7th, and started back to work on the 9th. In Bolivia it was very hot, so the cold showers felt nice. But, when I got back to Florida I was thankful for hot showers because it was in the 50’s here. We enjoyed a short time of Florida “winter” in January. We are gearing up for the summer. Leaders and teens are registering, so that means that I am mailing their prayer cards and letters to them. We finished preparing the 2024 tax receipts and got them mailed out. Now, I am helping send out the staff newsletters.
As of right now, my plan for the summer is to go on a team, but I am not sure which one yet. So please pray that God will use me wherever I go. Currently, the staff and students are praying for 300 team members to come on teams this summer; so please join us in prayer!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support!! Your partnership means that thousands of people around the world hear the Gospel message.
Blessings,
Amanda Evans
