Anthony & Shawna Myers Newsletter (Spring 2025)

But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.  I Samuel 12:24

As the summer of 2025 approaches, we are overwhelmed by how quickly the past few months have gone by and we are trying to figure out how and why it flew by so fast! Some highlights included a trip to PA for a family wedding in February. In March, the staff and students had a pickleball tournament, which Anthony won with one of our seasonal volunteers. We also enjoyed visits from family and friends from up north. Let us share more of what is going on...

BIG TOPS ARE UP & BOOT CAMP IS SOON!

On April 16 & 24 we had a number of volunteers come to help put up Big Top #1 & #2. We couldn’t do it without them! The Big Tops are used during Boot Camp for classes and evening rallies as we train the young people to share Christ as they go on their teams this summer. There are over 300 team members and leaders going on 12 teams. Boot Camp starts on June 17 and Commissioning is June 28. Teams will be going to Bolivia, Peru, Germany, Romania, Colombia, Cambodia, Madagascar, Australia, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Mexico. We appreciate your prayers for spiritual growth, safety, good health and for a fruitful ministry with the people they come in contact with.

GET MUDDY FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Yep...We had over 630 people come to get muddy at our annual Mud Run, which raises funds for our bases overseas to use for medical supplies, food, and other needs. The bases depend on these additional funds for special needs including roofing a widow’s home, basic medical, and whatever situations arise that aren’t in the budget! This was probably the largest turnout that we have ever had and we are thankful for the many people who will be helped because of it. Anthony and the land crew put in a lot of hard work getting the grounds cleared and muddy for the run. We didn’t have a lot of rain, but water was pumped from our lakes to make the obstacles and course muddy! I ran a store of international items that our overseas staff ladies have made, as well as handed out the race t-shirts to each one. It’s great to have the opportunity to talk to many people about Teen Missions and thank them for coming and supporting our ministry overseas. After the racers are done, they clean off and are free to leave their shoes to be washed and available for those in need. There were hundreds of shoes donated. Anthony and some of the staff ran the pre-run a few days before. The most exciting part is that four people gave their lives to the Lord!

GRADUATION DAY HAS COME AND GONE!

May 10, 2025 was a very special time for us. Darin graduated from college with a degree in business and accounting and his fiance, Maddie, graduated as an RN. It was such a special time as the whole family was able to be together at Geneva College. We enjoyed getting to meet and spend time with Maddie’s family, too. It was also a blessing to have the whole family  together for Mother’s Day on May 11, before heading back to Florida, loaded with two vehicles filled with Darin’s and Maddie’s things and shower gifts. Following a friend’s wedding, Maddie will come and spend a week with us to look for apartments and a possible nursing position in Orlando. Darin is blessed to be able to return to the firm he worked with for his internship last summer. Darin is with us now until early August. They will be getting married in Colorado Springs on August 22. Pray for Darin and Maddie as they prepare for their wedding and as they search for apartments and a job for Maddie.

FAMILY UPDATES

Brandon, Brooke, Sophia, Cohen and Hazel came down for a long weekend in March, and we went to the Wild Florida park to see the animals. Cohen’s favorites are the gators! Papa sends him pictures when he can as we have lots of them around Teen Missions! John, Jess, Raelynn and Elias are doing well in Texas. Jess has a new position with Mercy Ships and is enjoying it. We enjoy the precious time we have to spend with our kids and grandkids and to be a part of their lives as much as possible.

Anthony has been feeling pretty good and his last tests showed very little intestinal scar tissue. The Lord gives him daily strength for the long, hot days. I have been pretty good except for having an annoying cough for over 6 weeks! I was able to attend the ServSafe class for food managers, and I enjoy cooking for the staff and students when I can. Pray for us as we go into this busy time where the temperatures are in the 90s and the mosquitoes are hungry! We do look forward to the time of training the young people to go overseas. Anthony will be overseeing the outside work, as well as teaching a morning class on Maturity. He will also be the MC for two rallies and will be speaking one night also. You can see the evening rallies at teenmissions.org and look for the rally information which will be available during Boot Camp. You can also go to this website to see the latest updates received from the summer teams while they are on the field. During Boot Camp I will be teaching cooking class to the ladies, ordering food for the Boot Camp and other responsibilities. Following Boot Camp, we will have a few weeks to prepare for the teams who will be returning for Debriefs, and will possibly be hosting a retreat. The whole program will be completed on August 1. We have a few weeks to close things up from the summer and get ready for Darin & Maddie’s wedding. We are looking forward to some time in Colorado with the family.

The overseas work is growing incredibly. New bases, Bible Schools and Sunday Schools are opening continually. We are so thankful for what the Lord is doing. There are Boot Camps running over the next six months in the Philippines (2), Zambia (2), Southeast Asia (2), and other sensitive countries.

Thanks again for your prayers and encouragement in many ways. We can feel the prayers and are blessed by your support. It takes all of us to serve the Lord, in different capacities.

You are in our prayers. Have a blessed summer.
