News from Daniel and Sandra Huegel

Mexico Country Coordinators for Teen Missions Intl.

Dear Partner in the Lord,

It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since we went through the orientation and onboarding process to become part of the US Staff of Teen Missions International. We are so honored and humbled to be a part of this amazing organization with its nearly six decades of “inspiring and training a new generation (teenagers) to boldly proclaim salvation in Christ alone”.

A few weeks ago, during the annual staff retreat, we gathered with about 45 staff, 21 Bible School students, and 35 students HUH???? to prayerfully review the past year, praising God for what HE has accomplished through this team, and hearing some of the amazing stories of how God has brought each of them onto this team.

For our part, we spent the first part of the year planning, training, and recruiting teenagers for what would be the first-ever Boot Camp of the Lord in Mexico. This process included visits to the various work sites where we would eventually send the teams to serve with local churches and a five-day work camp at the campsite to help with training the leaders and starting to prepare materials for our camp.

Finally, after all the preparations, 36 teenagers and 28 leaders met in July at the beautiful Campamento Pinitos for the Boot Camp of the Lord, or as we called it in Mexico “Boot Camp del Señor”. First there were 10 days of training for the teens who came from 10 different church backgrounds and from half a dozen states of Mexico. Each teen was made part of a team (four teams) so they could work together, eat together, and get through the daily Obstacle Course together, while building their team spirit. There were daily classes on how to use puppets, lay bricks, evangelize, or present a program at a church. Each night after dinner, there was a time of worship and praise and a message from pastors and missionaries to challenge the teens to commit to investing their lives for the sake of God´s kingdom.

The initial training ended with a Commissioning Service, after which each team traveled by van or by airplane to the assigned local churches to serve there for two weeks. Teams spent time cleaning the building or empty lots for new church space, painting, or evangelizing and praying for others.

Finally, the teams returned to Campamento Pinitos to celebrate together all that the LORD accomplished through them and to prepare to return home and apply what they had learned in their families, churches, and above all, in their own personal walks with God.

Overall, it was a busy, stressful, spiritually challenging experience, but one in which we saw God move and dozens of young people discovered a new way of life and a new purpose for themselves. We ended the time of celebration by baptizing 12 new believers into the family of faith.

After the intense ministry time in July and August, we were blessed to gather all of our kids from around the world and share some vacation time together. This was a special gift from the Lord. Our son Ben was with us in Mexico for the Boot Camp, but has returned to Kenya to complete his studies at Daystar University. Andre continues serving with FBR in Thailand, while Alecsandra is now an international studies student at UT Austin. Jasmine is finishing high school online and is the last of our kids at home.

Thank you for your partnership and support as we venture into this new world of shaping teenagers for the challenges of the future.

Together for His Glory,

Daniel and Sandra Huegel
