Pat Storey Newsletter (Winter 2026)
Dear Supporters:
Greetings from the extreme cold of the Midwest! I expected it, but it still feels soooo cold!
In October, just after my last newsletter, I traveled to Zambia with some of our other staff for our TMI African Summit. It was such a great time of fellowship and learning with our coordinators from all over Africa. I must say that I get to work with some of the most godly and wise people that exist on this planet (I’m sure). They love the Lord and work tirelessly spreading the Good News every chance they get. They have a great desire to help improve this ministry as a whole as well as their own part in it and their ideas are inspiring!
After we got back to Florida, there were only a couple of weeks to finish packing and getting ready to move. On November 1, right on schedule, with the help of my son, Jason, and his family, the move could not have been easier and I was able to get unpacked, settled (pretty much) and ready to start work a week later. A couple of weeks after that, the Iowa Missions Board planned a “Welcome Back to Iowa Brunch” which was very thoughtful and nice. Good food and fellowship and just a good time. Thank you to all of you who attended, gave gifts and just made it such a warm welcome home!
Working remotely has been a huge blessing and has been going very well and although I do miss the people in Florida (and this week, the weather), I’m very happy to be closer to most of my family. Normally, November is NOT the right time to be traveling north, but it has been nice to get to see and take part in some of the holiday activities with my family.
Now, we are beginning to plan and get ready for this year’s Mud Run. I, obviously, can’t do the on the ground stuff from Iowa, but I am still doing a little bit here and there to help make sure everything is ready.
We are also already looking toward the 2026 Boot Camp. There is always a lot to do all year round and we are constantly looking to improve. I am still serving on the Program Team and meet with them on Zoom often to evaluate all of our current programs. It’s a great team of very “Boot Camp knowledgeable” people who care deeply about Teen Missions and how we take care of our teams each summer and it’s quite rewarding to have a small part of that aspect of the planning.
Right now, the plan is to drive back to Florida a week or two before Boot Camp to get settled in the Boot Camp Office and to help do whatever I can to finish getting ready for arrival day. Then I will fly from there to Pennsylvania for my oldest granddaughter’s wedding!!! And then back to Florida to finish up a few things before coming back home.
Since I needed to use my vacation time to move last fall, I am hoping to visit some of you in the spring (when it’s a little warmer) and let you know first hand what I’m doing now and how it is going, so I will begin contacting you in the next few weeks to see how that will work out. Thank you all for your continued support; for your prayers and encouragement and, as always, for your financial support, too! I am so grateful to all of you!
In Christ Alone,
Pat
