S&G Petersen Newsletter (Fall 2025)

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; He will carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.
- Isaiah 40:11 ESV

Dear Friends and Family,

This verse has taken on new meaning to us this year as we’ve seen God’s sovereign hand leading us individually and as a ministry through even the tough times with patience and loving tenderness. We love Him more and more every day!

SUMMER REPORT

It was the second consecutive year that our teen Boot Camp GREW in size, a huge answer to prayer! In addition, we saw 80 quality volunteers from all over the USA join hands with us to feed the multitudes, advance projects, and train our teams. What a joy to see new Boot Camps run in Mexico and in Italy. Twelve teams performed work projects and shared the Gospel in open-air street programs, sporting events, medical clinics, churches, and one-on-one evangelism. We heard testimony after testimony of God’s hand of protection, provision, and power from the teens at Debrief as their walk with God became personal. Our staff are tired, but so thankful!

WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE

Our Florida headquarters continues to transform with projects advancing on the new caretaker building, renovations on the camp game room, firebreak roads, and general cleanup. I just returned from Colombia where we celebrated all that God has done there through the years. Our staff and students are returning and work is going full swing on the 2026 teams and other ministry plans for this coming year.

PETERSEN FAMILY UPDATE

Gay has had health battles throughout the summer, first with her psoas muscle (which is a long muscle that runs from your lower back to your femur) and then with a torn meniscus in her left knee. She has continued working through the pain, but we pray that the Lord will intervene with His healing hand. Gay is excited to teach Speech this term with a large new Sojourner class coming in! She continues working in our HR Department.

I plan to be on the road quite a bit this year with several trips stateside for training and partnership meetings. The Lord willing, I will be in PA and then up to New England after the new year. Our African Summit will now be held in Zambia in October (Gay will be accompanying me on this trip) and then afterwards, a trip is planned for SE Asia.

Faith left on September 3 to begin her internship at our Teen Missions base in Colombia. She will be there until mid-May. We will miss her, but are so proud of her for following the Lord’s calling on her life.

Gay and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary on September 2. We are so thankful for all of the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us over the years—too many blessings to count.
