Sarah Evans Newsletter (Winter 2023)
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank y’all so much for your support, encouragement and prayers. These last few months have been full for me. My church had an Halloween celebration and I helped with the food. So many families show up to this event.
In November I attended a fun get together at the horse farm that I volunteer at. We had smores and hotdogs, and we played many creative games. Teen Missions always has a Christmas party every year that I look forward to. We all dress up, eat yummy food, and then give our gift to our secret person. Singing Christmas songs is fun as well. My Church in Eustis has a women’s party every year. I always love to visit the women from Lake Haven.
Christmas this year was a blast! I went to my dad’s work party and I also visited with my grandmother. My uncle hosted a Christmas party and it was so good to see my cousins. My dad and his wife hosted a Christmas Eve party, which they spent hours preparing for. Their house was full and the decorations were amazing. My mom had a party on Christmas Day. We all wore pajamas at my mom’s house and she served us breakfast for dinner. It’s always nice to see every one there.
My Christmas break was restful. I visited my birth mom in Orlando. My friend and her sweet daughters met me for Chick-Fil-A—so blessed to have wonderful friends. My brother hosted a bonfire where he lives and it was fun to spend time with him.
In the beginning of January, I returned to work. My friend and coworker, Sydney, and I hurried to prepare dorms for a retreat. Our job is to clean the dorms and get them ready for visitors. We also clean trailers for our volunteers. We welcome volunteers! Once a week I cook lunch for the staff, volunteers, and students. I really enjoy the kitchen. I’m still working on pre-proofing the Sunday school reports monthly. During the next few months, I will be organizing for Boot Camp which includes getting all the literature packets ready for the summer. I also pack some literature items for the overseas Boot Camps.
At the very end of January, I was privileged to attend some special friends’ wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and Christ-filled. What a blessing to be surrounded by such loving people. I have also adopted a student named Sabrina. That means that I will spend time with her and encourage her as she goes through the TMI Sojourner Bible School. I love having this opportunity.
Here is one of the reports from Cameroon. “We thank God for all the work He is doing here. We are blessed by the ministry of Teen Missions. Right now we have 138 children under our care. We are able to do evangelism in schools, churches and in homes. We even have the opportunity to share Christ with the military guys at the base near our unit. We gave treatment for those who came with colds and coughs. One of the ways that we helped this month, is that we took a pregnant lady to the hospital. Her father was so grateful that he gave us a big rooster for rescuing his daughter in labor. Please pray for peace in Cameroon.”
Let me know how I can pray for ya’ll. I always need prayer. Please pray that I will have strength and joy each day, and that God will continue to give me wisdom as I work. Thanks once again for the part y’all play in the Lord’s ministry.
In Christ,
Sarah Evans
