Tom & Linda Maher Newsletter (Fall 2025)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in the Name of Jesus! We trust this update finds you well and enjoying each new day. Thankfulness should be intentional and focused, and so we give God glory for all He has done this past summer. As a part of the 2025 Launch Team (our name for the summer home staff), it was a privilege to welcome the 200+ young people on the property, be a part of the training and then witness changed lives and testimonies of impact at Debrief. Multiple overseas countries held Boot Camps, increasing our young people serving the Lord worldwide. The Launch Team had 12 staff members and four volunteers who walked together in servanthood and diligence to attend to the tasks. We admire those who persevered in the intense Florida summer heat to maintain our property.
LINDA
Linda, as usual, ran around Boot Camp, the office and Debrief like a whirlwind. During Boot Camp, she taught classes, managed the Finance Department, was a speaker, and advised and mentored teens and leaders. While the teams were on the field, she managed her department. Linda, for the most part, stayed healthy, for which we are grateful.
TOM
Since the summer of 1984, I have been “MR. OC” and continued the tradition again this year. I enjoy the unity built in the daily running of the Obstacle Course and it’s a joy to start them off each morning. I spent my summer taking care of things in Graphics, Computers and with the online services during Boot Camp. I found solutions for several of those little “quirks” I was frustrated with on the software development side. I also made several bus runs, picking up and taking teams to the airport and driving to sightseeing.
This summer, the ministry ran its first overseas Boot Camps in Mexico and Italy. Both camps were successful, and many lives were changed. We were blessed that Cameroon ran its third Boot Camp in the French zone. We appreciate your continued prayers that the conflict will end and that Cameroon will once again experience peace. Our staff has shared that the national elections are in October, and there are rumors of a total shutdown of their area for a month.
After the Debriefs were completed and the teens were back home, we were able to get away and spend a week in Alabama with Zach and his girls. Zach’s birthday is August 9th, and over the years, we have spent way too many of them separated. What a joy it was to be with him on the actual day! I believe that Elinor and Tigs are the most enthusiastic singers of the Happy Birthday Song that we have ever seen. We had so much fun playing with the girls and fellowshipping with Zach and Alyssa.
NOW, NOW,
Linda will be teaching at our Bible school during the fall term. We are encouraged that the student body has grown to 21. She is excited to welcome a new student, Zach, to the Finance Department this fall. Zach will also get some training with me in my department. Linda’s department will be busy with fiscal year-end reporting to our independent auditor. She would greatly appreciate your prayers. I am concentrating more on the software development aspect of my department this year. We are wrapping up the 2025 season and getting ready for 2026. There never seems to be an end to our workload.
THE OFFSPRING
Tom and Deena, Elsie and Jude are doing well in Michigan. Elsie will be 13 on September 16th. She is becoming a beautiful young lady, and we are so proud of her. Elsie plays the flute and is still an avid reader. Jude plays flag football, which he loves, and he remains our funny boy; he is naturally hilarious. Kalah just began another school year teaching in first grade. She is keeping busy with her class of 19 first graders. She does have one student this year who makes teaching the entire class challenging. Kalah is also working online for her Master’s Degree in reading literacy. Zachary, Alyssa, Elinor, Tigs and Merry Joy are doing well in Alabama. The girls love to sing. Merry Joy will be one in October. She “army crawls” all over the house and stands around the furniture. She loves to be in the middle of the action. We continue to have Link, Aurora, Daisy and Oliver most Friday nights and some Saturdays. They are a blessing and a joy. They have become great swimmers and love pool time, coloring, building blocks, riding bikes, taking walks to look for wildlife and reading with Nana. Recently, we have had a lot of rain, and the many standing puddles have become a breeding ground for frogs. The kids love catching tadpoles.
THANK YOU
Thank you never seems adequate to express how much we appreciate our ministry partners. What a blessing you are! Thank you for your prayers, sponsorship, and notes of encouragement. We consider it a great honor to serve the Lord, and your partnership makes that possible! Oh, may HE find us faithful.
