What are the needs?

Our staff around the world are working tirelessly to bring the Gospel to those who have not heard and mobilize those who would not otherwise go. Even as the Apostle Paul's needs were met by the church of Philippi, some of the faithful workers of the Lord at Teen Missions have needs that you can help meet. Here you can find a few of those needs that your donation can help relieve in a direct and impactful way.

Fernando Tan

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3

On July 3, 2025, Fernando Tan, our long-time Country Coordinator in the Philippines, began coughing severely, and his wife, Genelie, rushed him to the hospital. Doctors found signs of lung irritation, caused by smoke and chemical inhalation. Despite treatment, his condition worsened with tightness in his chest and heavy bleeding. After several days in the hospital and no clear answers, he was advised to seek specialized care.

When Fernando arrived at Chong Hua Hospital, his condition became critical. A new treatment finally brought relief, but a bronchoscopy revealed a mass in his lung. By July 13, the bleeding had stopped, and he was well enough to return home.

Ten days later, test results from the biopsy came back inconclusive, and a follow-up CT scan showed no trace of a mass. His doctor called it “unexplainable.” Fernando and Genelie know it was God’s healing! His lungs remain healthy and stable.

Fernando and Genelie are deeply grateful for the prayers and encouragement they received during this difficult time. They have witnessed God’s faithfulness and care.

As they continue follow-up visits through February 2026, we invite you to come alongside them to help with the medical expenses that have accumulated. Your gift will support Fernando and Genelie as they continue to serve the Lord with renewed strength and gratitude in the Philippines.

The Health Journey of our Country Coordinator

In early October, a Country Coordinator in one of our Creative Access Countries was rushed to the hospital with severe jaw pain and difficulty breathing. The local hospital couldn’t treat him, so a friend drove him 3½ hours to a larger city, where he was admitted to the ICU. Doctors discovered a serious tooth infection, a condition with a high fatality rate in the area.

Our Coordinator underwent surgery to drain the infection and was placed on oxygen and IV medication. Despite the treatment, his condition didn’t improve, and his wife grew concerned. After consulting friends, our Coordinator was transferred to another hospital, where he had a second surgery and began receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. With his wife's constant care, including feeding, bathing, and even helping him to walk again, he slowly regained strength.

On November 1st, our Coordinator was discharged and went to stay near his family for daily dressing changes. He was finally reunited with his children after being apart for nearly a month. He is now back at the base, and his wife is continuing to take care of him.

He is still weak but improving daily, and it’s a wonderful answer to prayer. His wife reports that it’s a blessing to see him outside again, smiling and interacting with staff and interns as he continues his recovery.

Please pray for his complete healing and renewed strength. If you’d like to help with his ongoing medical expenses, your gift would be a great help to him and his family.

Your gift helps to meet the needs of Teen Missions' missionaries worldwide.
