Hello from Australia!!
Hello from Australia!!
The team has made it safely and we are settling in well. We arrived on Tuesday, July 1st. We arrived in Australia in the morning, and were kept busy throughout the day so we didn't get too jet lagged. We were all very sleepy! They took us for a river walk, and made us a small meal (snags on the barby; or snacks on the barbeque)! Yesterday (Wednesday), we went for walk at Noosa National Park, which was breathtaking, and we much enjoyed it! The ocean is beautiful here, and this was the first time many of them have seen the Pacific Ocean.
The weather here is polar opposite to that of Florida. It has been very cold in the mornings and evenings, and quite warm in the afternoons (much like Florida winter weather). The lady leaders made a trip to the store and made sure everyone had adequate warm clothing, blankets, and hats.
On Sunday we will be participating in leading children's ministry at a local church, and our future schedule looks like it will be full of youth and children's ministry outreach. We will be working on some minor projects on the base here (painting, picking up the grounds, etc.). The team is super excited about all that is to come! They are enjoying the landscape and the unique animals, such as kangaroos, cockatoos, and kookaburras.
All the kids are having a great time, and excited about the next couple of weeks. We're sure the time will fly, but we are confident the Lord will teach us many things.
I would like to include a few short testimonies from some of the team members:
CJ:
"We just got to Australia a few days ago. It has been amazing so far. It's so beautiful down here. The wildlife and weather are both amazing."
Abe:
"Australia is amazing! The wildlife is awesome. There are so many creatures here that are very different from the U.S. We got to walk to this national park yesterday and it was beautiful. It went along the coast so we could constantly see the beach and ocean."
Prayer Requests:
1. Please continue praying for health and safety as we work. Going from extreme heat to chilly weather could cause some sniffles.
2. Pray for team unity and flexibility as we coordinate different projects, Bible studies, classes, and evangelism outreach opportunities.
3. Pray for opportunities to see the Lord working at the base and during evangelism trips. We want to see the kids grow in their faith, and in their confidence while sharing the Gospel.
It has been such a fun and growing experience already in Australia, and we can't wait to see how the Lord moves as we continue serving Him over the summer.
