Brumbelow Newsletter (Winter 2026)
Dearest Supporters,
Happy New Year! As always, it’s fun to sit down and write this update for you all! Buckle up, it’s a full one.
Travels:
As mentioned in my fall newsletter; myself, a fellow staffer, and all 21 Sojourner students were scheduled to travel to Honduras for our annual ministry trip in November. Unfortunately, due to the government shut down in the States, and flight travel issues, we were unable to fly to Honduras. This was quite a disappointment to us all, but we saw God’s hand in it. Instead of serving overseas, our students were able to serve right here in Brevard County, FL! The students spent a week working in their departments here at TMI, which was a huge blessing to all the staff. The following week, they served in several local ministries in Brevard County: House of Hope, Matthew’s Hope, and Under the Bridge Ministries. It was so encouraging for all our students to see the ministry needs around us, and to serve in our own backyard. They learned a lot through this whole experience, especially that God’s plan and purpose is sovereign and supreme over our own human ones. Praise Him!
I was also blessed to travel to Mexico at the end of October for a good friend’s wedding! It was such a fun trip, with lots of laughs, amazing food, and many memories made.
Teaching & School:
In the fall, I was blessed to teach the Christian Evidences course to the Sojourner students. It’s always fun being in the classroom with them, and to learn from them too! This winter, I’m teaching Cross-Cultural Communications (one of my favorites to teach!). It’s been a blast so far!
It’s also been a busy season for Sojourner with prepping for this coming year…lots of scheduling, placing teachers, upcoming intern placement, intern training, intern debriefs, figuring out graduation stuff, and more! Prayers are appreciated as I work on all these items.
Interns:
All the overseas interns are doing well, praise the Lord! I truly feel like a proud mom. It is so amazing to see all the ways the Lord is teaching them and growing them. I know it’s not always an easy experience for them, but the Lord is truly moving. Praise Him!
We have two serving in South America, and now four serving in two separate African countries. Please pray for them, that they would have safety, good health, and encouragement in the work and in what God has called them to do. I truly miss each one of them, and I look forward to having them all back “home” in May.
The Holidays:
For Christmas, I was able to see my family in GA for 10 days. It was a sweet time together, even though I did have the flu the entire time. However, I was thankful to my family for taking such good care of me, and for letting me rest and recover! For New Years, my best friend and her youngest came to stay with me in FL for a few days. This was such a wonderful time together and so refreshing for my soul. We had lots of good talks (therapy sessions honestly), good food, and time of enjoying the mild FL weather. It was also SO sweet and special to officially meet her youngest who was born in June.
Work & This Coming Summer:
Things here at TMI are busy as always, especially as we head into the season of preparing for summer teams. As of now, myself and a fellow staffer, Ethan, are scheduled to lead a team to Taiwan. Of course, things are constantly moving and, so we could be switched elsewhere! However, I’m super excited and expectant for all that the Lord will do this coming summer. Please be praying with us and for us as we prepare. Also, can I encourage you all to reach out to the teens in your life about the possibility of going on a team this summer? Maybe Taiwan? Here’s a link to all our summer teams and how they can apply to go! https://teenmissions.org/mission-trips. There are still lots of openings on teams!
Finances:
As always, a huge THANK YOU to my wonderful supporters. I truly couldn’t do this without God using each of you. Whether that be through financial support, or prayer, I’m thankful you’re with me in this!
I’m continuing to look for more committed monthly partners and to meet my budget, an additional $400-$500 monthly is needed. If you feel led to give one-time or join on for monthly support, you can go to this link to do so: https://teenmissions.org/missionary/brumbelow.
What God Has Been Teaching Me:
To be truthful, it’s been a hard past few months. For several different reasons, but through it I see God still working in my heart and life. He truly never leaves us or forsakes us. God has continually shown Himself faithful, and full of mercy and grace in my failings and the hardships. Maybe you’ve found yourself in a hard spot, trust me when I say you’re not alone in it! I have been so refreshed and strengthened by amazing friends who build me up and encourage me DAILY! I’m also so thankful for an amazing heavenly Father, Who I totally do not deserve, but Who still chooses me and wants me every day. He is so good! Please know I pray for you each as you pray for me!
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” -Hebrews 10:23-25
Prayer Requests:
· For an increased desire to know and serve God more each day.
· For our upcoming summer teams and all the logistics that go into them. That in all that is said and done, God may be glorified above all.
· For all the Sojourner students and interns, and for myself as I seek to lead them well.
· For an increase in monthly support.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this update, and for all your continued prayers and support! May the Lord richly bless you!
Blessings & lots of love,
Emily
