Robbie & Jen Edalgo Newsletter (Spring 2025)

Dear Amigos y Familia,

We’ve been serving at Teen Missions for ONE year on June 1st!  MUCH to be thankful for!

THE END OF TIMES

Fisher broke two school records in track and competed in Regionals in the 400m and 4x400m. Football spring training has begun and as a rising SENIOR, Fisher is a leader out there and has begun praying with the team before practice.  Put God first.  Attaboy!  This summer, an answer to your prayers, is that Fish-man got a job cleaning dishes for Camp of the Woods in New York, nestled in the Adirondack Mountains!  He says he is willing to trust God for this summer.  This is a Christian Family Resort where he also gets to attend chapel.  My prayer is that he grows in his walk with the Lord there; they seem to be very intentional about the spiritual formation of their staff.  He flies out May 29-July 26.

Aspen and Rivers both finished up a stellar track season too.  Aspen competed in the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and long jump.  She set two school records!  Both girls helped set up The Big Top (this giant circus-like tent) at Teen Missions on April 23.  They prayerfully sought the Lord about schooling next year and have peace about homeschooling.  Aspen is excited to join a Classical Conversations (CC) Challenge 3 class.  Rivers and the younger Edalgo kids will break from CC and I’ll teach them from home.  I’ll actually get to teach two classes to a handful of Challenge 1-aged teens around my kitchen table…Pray for me to lead them well and center discussion around the Lord.  I can’t wait!

Harvest and Shepherd celebrated the end of this year’s CC co-op.  I got to sub frequently and then tutor the last quarter in a younger kids’ class…I totally loved those kiddos; that unexpected opportunity was a blessing.  Harvest also finished up a year of American Heritage Girls, camping once and earning all sorts of badges.  In our last troop meeting, I heard the Holy Spirit prompting me to share with the girls about how they can talk to the Lord anywhere, even on the toilet!  Even in the shower, trampoline, or running…anywhere!  There is a girl going through some really hard stuff-—cancer in her family, so I got to speak to her quite a bit.  We’re still praying about whether to continue AHG next year or delve into perhaps gymnastics?

Aspen, Rivers, and Harvest will all be taking a few classes with a local Christ-centered co-op called Space Coast Christian Co-op on Thursdays.  Prayers for meeting new people and learning in this new environment.

Everest—well, she tags along everywhere and she’s 2 yrs old. Believe it or not, she’s learning her letter sounds alongside Shepherd.  He finally has some attention span to take in a lesson each day!  Whew!  I really think his motivation to read is so that he can read his Florida Fresh Fish Species poster on his wall!

ROBBIE AT THE BASE

Robbie is teaching Church History 1. He has 16 college students.  Robbie is invited to deliver the commencement address to the Sojourner Graduation class of 2025 on June 13th. Please pray as he prepares!

Additionally, he has been working with multiple departments with personnel evaluations, interpersonal skills, counseling and the Housing Advocacy Team (HAT). Robbie is an advisor to HAT as they seek to establish the equitable distribution of resources to the missionaries working for TMI.

Issues being addressed related to property management are as follows: herbicide usage (recently acquired Garlon 4 for the base), water quality and usage limitations, a culvert-reef project, landscaping, and road signs.  Volunteers installed road signs and building markers. In addition, trails were cleared for multi-purpose use for groups visiting the base. The flowerbed at the front entrance had the concrete removed and a cross with border installed.

TOUGH GATOR 5K MUD RUN

Robbie and staff prepared EXTENSIVELY for the Mud Run and boy was it a smashing success!  631 runners slogged through 36 muddy obstacles and ran either 3.16 miles or 1.24 mi.  Robbie and Rivers volunteered on the day of the event.  Aspen and I ran it.  Aspen came in 2nd in the competitive women’s!  Robbie was assigned Evangelism for the day.  He developed the idea of an ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE, where if someone was willing to have ice water dumped over their head, they could speak their mind to some of Robbie’s questions.  He would ask them if they thought they were a good person, then lead them through some of the 10 Commandments to see if they live up to God’s standard of a righteous person.  When they inevitably fail the “good person” test, as we all do, and it shows that we’re guilty before a Holy God, Robbie would ask them if they deserve heaven or hell?  They usually admitted hell.  Death and hell are the wages of our sin, but then he’d share that God provided a way for our sins to be forgiven…He sent His Son who was sinless, to die in our place!  We CAN live with God now, forever!  After realizing their need to be saved, at least four people gave their lives to Christ on May 3rd after completing a Mud Run!  Now that’s cool!

IT’S BO-TIME

BOlivia TIME!  All leaders arrive June 14th!  We’ll have a refresher course on June 15th and then team members will be arriving on June 17th all throughout the day!  There are 216 team members, 66 leaders and 18 leader kids registered for a total of 300 people ready to launch off around the globe to share Jesus!  The teens will be memorizing 33 verses and will have classes on needed skills such as block laying, steel tying, construction basics, and concrete pouring.  We’ll lead the teens in devotions, plus give them time alone with the Lord. You can tune into the livestreamed rally held under the Big Top for worship and a message starting at 7 pm every night from June 18-28!  Robbie will get to bring the message on June 22!  Please pray for this message; how important!!

Our whole family is fully funded! Praise God!

A few more prayer needs:

  • Pray for good health and safety.
  • Pray for me as I shop and cook three meals per day for 23 people in a limited kitchen…I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!  Plus there’s peanut butter when all else fails.
  • Pray that we all encounter the Lord this summer!  Pray for boldness and great love to evangelize in Bolivia.
  • Pray we can overcome any language barriers.
  • Pray that us five leaders will love our flock well and tend to their needs.

Running for Christ,

Robbie, Jen, Fisher, Aspen, Rivers, Harvest, Shepherd, and Everest
