Steve & Gay Petersen Newsletter (Spring 2025)
Dear Friends and Family,
OVERSEAS REPORTS
Boot Camps are running in Palawan and in Mindanao in the Philippines; two additional Boot Camps were just completed in Southeast Asia as well! We have also received exciting testimonies from the two Boot Camps now running in Kabuta and Wangibisha in Zambia.
Here is the testimony we received:
Our success story is coming from the Disciples Team. The Disciples Team is doing their projects at Mukwakwa circuit, the place where our Circuit Riders stay. On Saturday, the team went out for evangelism. Before going, the leaders of the team and some team members who had never in their lives opened their mouths to share the Gospel, were amazed when they reached the field and started sharing the Gospel. The team members did not know where to begin and they were afraid because they had never stopped someone to share the Gospel. But when they reached the villages, they said they did not understand where the confidence and courage came from that enabled them to start sharing the Gospel. The leaders of the team are testifying that even the least person we thought could not share the Gospel was there, courageously sharing the Gospel. The leader’s reported that when they came back from the field to their campsite, each one of them had a story to share about how the Lord had used them in a way they never expected. The team members are testifying that they did not even know where the words they spoke were coming from. They said that if you asked me to say the very things I was saying in the field, I can’t even remember many things, but people willingly accepted the Word we preached to them. The team testifies that as the team members were sharing the Gospel, they met one old man who after preaching to him accepted Jesus. He knelt down before the young people to thank them, to say thank you for coming to my house to share the Word of God with me. He said there has never been anyone who has visited me to share the Word of God with me. He also asked for a Bible so that he could start reading the Word of God. The leaders of the team have invited him to visit the team so that they can give him a Bible written in our local language.
WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE
Over 630 runners participated in our ninth Tough Gator 5K Mud Run, which raises funds for our medical and benevolence efforts overseas. More importantly, four people said ‘Yes’ to Jesus and repented of their sins after their races.
PETERSEN FAMILY UPDATE
Faith is in her last term as a student, and we are SO proud of her courage and hard work. She has been a great student, role model, and servant of the Lord. She’s assigned to the Rwanda Team as a backup leader this summer and is scheduled to begin serving her internship at the TMI base in Colombia in the fall.
Timothy & Ellie - Timothy has stepped up in his role, overseeing the training and preparations of our summer leaders within the Mobilization Department. He’s also assisting with the youth group at our local church. Ellie has been handling our volunteer initiatives, in addition to managing the upgrades to our new TMI display room.
Steve & Gay - Gay has agreed to run the Florida Boot Camp Kitchen, which is a huge responsibility this summer. She continues to serve in the HR Department and in proofing TMI publications. Steve returned from an exciting trip to Italy where we are expecting to see our first Europe Boot Camp this summer! Steve was elected in March to another 3-year term as President of Teen Missions.
