Brick by Brick & Blessings by the Day: Uganda Team Update
The Bible students from the base here working alongside them have spoken greatly of their amazing work ethic and their ability to listen well and complete the task. Tuesday afternoon, it was very warm and sunny outside, so the lady leaders in the kitchen brought down fresh Ugandan watermelon for them to snack on. The team members were very grateful. The lady leaders work tirelessly in the kitchen but the KP is here to help! Lando and Genesis were a big help on Tuesday by washing the dishes, prepping the tomato and lettuce for our burgers, and even baking fresh brownies. I think it’s safe to say the other team members were also thankful. On Wednesday, Ivana and Cora helped make the dough for the pizza and made the team peach cobbler! Yum! Perfect for the cool, sun-shiny days here in Uganda.
Although, the weather has not always been in our favor. It rained all of Wednesday morning so the project at the security wall looked more like a mudslide than a work site. So our leader, Miss Allie, took the time to make sure all the team members were caught up on their memory verses and weekly review; which will come in handy for Quizzing at debrief—good luck other teams! ;) After a nutritious lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, fresh pineapple, chips and juice, the sun was out and the team could begin the project for the day.
After a long day of work the team has library reading time, bath/laundry, free time, and team time in the evening. Team time entails one of the KPs sharing their testimony or a devotional. And every other day we have separate girl and guy devotions, where the leaders take the time to teach them what it is to be men and women of God. Finally, the team grabs some shuteye to be ready for the next day, just as full of adventure!
Our plan for the rest of the week is to host a clinic here at the base. The word has already spread about the team from America who is here to host eyeglass and medical clinics! We have already had several people come by asking for us. We hope to have a full house here on Thursday! On Friday, we plan on visiting Jinja town to do some souvenir shopping and have a nice dinner by the side of Lake Victoria, a chance to see more of Ugandan culture.
We are so thankful to the Lord for watching out for us and we are thankful for you for supporting and praying for us while we are here in Africa. Please continue praying for team unity, that we would enjoy every moment while it lasts, and that the team would remain healthy and work hard! God bless you and keep you!
Allison - Hey ya’ll! Uganda has been great so far, and we’ve already seen God working. We’ve started building the brick wall, and have made a lot of progress. We’re doing great, and I can’t wait for the rest of summer!
Naomi - Hello friends and family! Through God’s grace we survived when all 43 of our duffel bags got lost on a plane for 3 days. Besides that I have loved every minute of being in Uganda. Please pray that our team would continue to be unified.
Jake - Hey guys! Our time in Uganda has been so fun. We have started on the security wall, and I have had a great time helping people out at the medical clinics. I can’t wait to see what else God has planned for my team and I!
Rainan - Hi everyone! Uganda has been awesome! I feel very welcome at the base and work is fun. We have begun the security wall which is going great. The squatty potties though, I do not like because they do not smell too good.
Genesis - Hey guys! We have been having so much fun in Uganda. I love all the people here, especially the kids. They are so fun to play with. I have also loved being able to help everyone who comes to the clinic and sharing Jesus with them. I am excited to see what other things God has in store for me and my awesome team in the next few weeks.
