Last report from Uganda
On Sunday afternoon, the team together with some Bible students from the base here, played a soccer game with a local youth team and shared a presentation at half time, and Mr. Jahswel presented the Gospel. Several people surrendered their lives to the Lord, including the leader of the other team! Glory to God!!!
Sunday evening, we had a fun time getting together with the Bible students, staff, and interns for dinner, chatting and dancing! It was so much fun! We danced our hearts out (especially Lando, Ivana, and Mr. Jahswel!) worshipping the Lord and just enjoying each other as we celebrated the time God gave us to be here in Uganda serving alongside these wonderful people. It is an amazing thing to step into another culture and serve the same God with people who are different than you! The Body of Christ is amazing! For dinner we had Ugandan style rice, chicken, cooked greens, boiled potatoes and soda. It was delicious! All in all, it was a busy day packed with exciting events and the team went to bed TIRED.
Everyone woke up on Monday very groggy but ready for our LAST work day! The team finished strong working on the security wall with some of the Ugandan Staff and students. Naomi especially has really impressed us with her work ethic and the quality of her work as well. She follows instructions well, stays focused, and carries out her task. Very proud of her!!
On Tuesday, we had a day of much needed rest for everyone. We slept in, had some coffee cake for breakfast before the team walked to the market to get some hot and fresh Chapati which is enjoyed by most of them. They prayed with people along the way and made it back to the base in time for lunch. In the afternoon the team got caught up on memory verses and had some bath/laundry time.
In the evening, the guys and girls split up for GG class where, the girls especially, had a great time talking about what to look for in a godly husband. These team members are so precious to us and we pray that they will continue to seek after the Lord with all their hearts.
Today, Wednesday, the team had their last time of washing laundry before we travel on Saturday. And this afternoon, the team has gone to a nearby school where the Staff here in Uganda visit every week to teach a Sunday School program to the local children. The team was excited to share songs, puppets, dramas and play games with the children, and present the Gospel to them! This will be our last ministry opportunity as on Thursday we are planning to do one more day of sightseeing and souvenir shopping, before we pack out and deep clean on Friday. Then Saturday we plan to head off to Entebbe after breakfast. The team members are already talking about how sad it will be to leave Uganda and say goodbye to the people here that they have come to know and love. We as leaders are here to walk alongside them as they say these hard goodbyes. It is difficult, but it is part of the journey and we will all be together as believers one day! It is also proof that the time we had here was a GOOD time that will be greatly missed. God has been very good to us through it all, and we give all the glory to Him as He alone is the reason why we are here doing what we’re doing.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for your prayers for us all. You never know what a day will bring, and we are certainly depending on the Lord to get us through each moment! Please continue to pray for us as we prepare our hearts to leave Uganda and head back to Florida for a few days of Debrief, where it will be a time of processing and reflecting on what God has done this summer.
With love, from the Uganda team!!!
Testimonies:
“My experience on the field has been amazing. We’ve been able to try so many new foods and meet so many new people. I’m so happy with what God did through me this summer.” - Nelson
“Hey friends and family it’s Jaxon here in Uganda! I can’t believe we are going to debrief in 4 days. A word to sum up this trip, impactful. I have learned so much through the clinics, building the wall, and even my personal devos. God has really taught me to depend on him for everything, and I think that is something I’ll be able to take home with me most of all from this trip.” Sincerely, Jaxon O.
“Hello everyone, Uganda has been awesome and I’m going to miss it and everyone in it. We went to Samuka Island the birds were loud. Yesterday was our final work day which makes me sad I will miss it.” - Rainan
“The past few days in Uganda have gone well. We have made lots of progress on the wall. We had our last clinic which also went well. The chickens on the base have hatched chicks, now they are everywhere… It rained hard last night, but it’s alright, because it helped me sleep. I’m going to change clothes today, finally.” Love to all, Sebastien
