Hello from Rukumberi friends + family!
The Rwanda team is doing well praise the Lord! Progress is happening here on the worksite, moving brick, steel tying, mixing mortar, and building frames for the foundation are all steps into the progress of the building, a super encouraging sight to see for our team as well as the community! The community is eager to help our team as they are excited to see the finished product and use their new schoolhouse for years to come! This week the team got the afternoon off of work to go on a walk to the lake nearby where the locals get their water supply for their households and livestock.
The local kids were so excited to show us the lake and crowd around us as we stood in awe at the beauty here in Rwanda! Such an eye opening experience for everyone to see how blessed we are here with a well for water as well as how good we have it at home to have 24/7 access to running water! Another high from this week was trying jackfruit fresh from one of the jackfruit trees. Everyone tried it and most absolutely loved it! We ate it fresh and baked the rest into a tasty dessert!
The team has really enjoyed the evening time after dinner where they gather and play volleyball, journal about the day and trip, or just catch up with one another about life!
Today after our small church service with the team, the school invited kids to come and play soccer, volleyball, and many other fun games that the team members learned during Boot Camp!
After the songs and games, Levi Sal. was able to use our wordless soccer ball as a way to tell the Gospel story using the colors demonstrated and then playing one big game with all the kids! The kids also left with balloons, wordless bracelets, coloring books that have their native language on the sheets explaining salvation! Our team has truly thrived during these evangelism opportunities, their joy to tell these kids the Gospel is so encouraging to see! Overall the team is doing well, lifelong friends are in the making and the team is ready to get back to work on Monday! Your prayers + support are greatly appreciated from Rwanda! ????????????
Here’s a word from a few team members!
“Hey mom & dad, love you & miss you all at home. Rwanda has been beautiful & the kids have been fun. The Lord has been teaching me patience & to lean into Him when things get hard. I love my team & can’t wait to tell you all the stories when I get back. See you soon!” - Sela T.
“Being ‘in the field’ has been the best part of the summer and quite the experience. Seeing the differences and luxuries our culture has compared to here is eye-opening, as in seeing just how big and indescribable our God is. I can’t wait to see you (mom and dad)!” - Marcus M.
“Hey mom I love it here this is such a good experience for me! I love Sunday’s when we get to dance and play games with the kids and I love my team!” - Mylee C.
“Hey mom and dad being in Africa is kind of what I thought it would be like but also not. I knew that it would be different and hard but experiencing it is a whole other thing seeing all the kids playing is so fun I love being able to see them so joyful with so little there have been a couple of times when I have not been joyful but the Lord always gets me through. Thank you so much for allowing me to get here and experience this.” - John A.
