Team Philippines: Boot Camp Mid-Term Report
We have completed the first half of boot camp training for team Philippines, and the morale has been great! We won the "Bro Pig" award on the first day the tent, eating and Big Top sites were checked and had the opportunity to go swimming as an award. They were so excited and have since been trying really hard to keep everything clean. We have a team of 8: four guys and four girls. Along with them, we have five leaders and one leader's kid. So we are a family of 14 already and are very excited to see what the Lord has in store for us! Overall, they are doing really well. They get along great, and the guys are already talking about reunions once the summer is over. Each of them seem very receptive to how the Lord is already working in their lives, and as leaders, that is such a great encouragement. On the second day of Boot Camp training, we had our first storm with a lot of rain. After rally, the team prayed when they arrived back at the tent site, asking the Lord for their tents to be dry inside. They also prayed once more in front of their own tents asking for the same thing, and were very excited to have dry tents when they opened them! They're already seeing how the Lord answers prayers, even in things that may not seem very significant to others. Each of you would be very proud of your kids. They have great attitudes. It has been very hot and humid (as well as wet), and they are still smiling. During the Obstacle Course (OC) one morning, one of our guys (Aaron) jumped for the rope hanging over the slough so he could get across to pass it to the next person. It was slippery when he went to jump, and as he went into the air, he realized the rope wasn't there anymore. Needless to say, Aaron went completely in the slough and got soaked. When he came out of the water, though, he was laughing. It was great to see him smiling through that! Continue praying for them.
Pray that they will continue to be receptive to what the Lord has in store for them this week. Pray that they would stay well. It's very hot here and they can get dehydrated fast. They are doing well drinking plenty of water. Pray for us as leaders that we always lead them to Christ, no matter what.
