We’ve reached the halfway point of our time here in Colombia,
The beginning of this week has been pretty busy. The team has (as always) been working incredibly hard. They’ve been digging stairs into the side of the mountain, continuing work on various sidewalk projects, making progress on the roof, and excavating an area where the Colombian staff plans to build a house high up the mountain. Whoever ends up living there will certainly have quite the daily hike!
On Monday afternoon, a group of team members helped with some road work the local community was doing outside of the base. They worked alongside Colombian locals, and even though they couldn’t communicate much verbally, several of the girls shared during our “roses and thorns” Bible study that working with the locals was their “rose” of the day.
Tuesday was an average day—nothing out of the ordinary happened. The team continued their usual tasks, although work on the roof has been delayed while we wait for more materials.
Today, the team is in high spirits. Apparently, mixing concrete is a highly sought-after job—everyone was begging Mr. Will for the opportunity! Veronica W., Brady B., and Nick M. were the lucky ones who secured the role of cement mixers.
Tomorrow (though the team doesn’t know it yet), we’ll be celebrating Pablo’s birthday with him and his family. We’ve been invited to join them for lunch, which is such a blessing!
The rest of this week will continue with our regular work. This Sunday, we have a few options for church services, though we haven’t yet decided where we’ll go. It will be our last Sunday in Colombia, since we leave bright and early on the 20th. We want to make sure we choose the right place to worship.
Thank you to our family, friends, and prayer partners for your continued prayers and support. As leadership, we are incredibly grateful for each of you—and for your children. They have truly been a blessing and have taught us so much.
Please continue to pray for the team’s health and safety as we head into our final week and a half. We’re confident we can finish strong!
Blessings,
Hi mom, I’m getting to do all sorts of fun projects and am getting to know these people even better. Learning a bit about myself and my relationship with God. This is an amazing experience.- Hannah H.
I miss you mom, dad, Jamie, and Tessa and everyone else. Colombia work it is fun I will tell all of you what we did when I get home. - Adrian F.
Colombia is pretty sick! We have been playing football with a deflated soccer ball and it’s been really fun. I have also learned a lot and grown my faith a lot more while I have been out here. -Brady B.
Hey everyone! Colombia has been great so far. Our team has been growing closer and the view of the valley from the base is amazing. Doing a lot of work but nothing too hard. Missing you all at home! -Pearl H
Hey everyone/mom and dad, Life’s been good here in Colombia! We’re been working a bunch and getting a ton accomplished. I’ve loved a lot of things about the trip so far, but my favorite thing has definitely been Group devo's at the end of the day. We sing songs and someone shares their testimony. I feel like that’s when our team is most united. It’s the best way to end a long day of hard work in my opinion, and I think a lot of people on the team would agree with me! God bless see you soon! -Bella E.
