Amanda Evans Newsletter (Fall 2021)

Hey Family & Friends,

Fall is here and we are back to work in our offices cleaning up after the summer and getting ready to start preparing for the summer of 2022.

We were excited to be able to run our program this summer after not being able to run in 2020 due to Covid. This year the teams went to some of our bases just in case someone had to stay behind due to testing positive for Covid. Praise God everyone was able to come back to the US with their teams!!

This summer I was placed on the Malawi team with three other leaders and 21 team members. During Boot Camp, we found out Malawi closed its borders because of Covid. So we made plans to go to Kenya. But because Teen Missions doesn’t have a base there, they changed the plans and we were going to go to Zambia.

As the Boot Camp training ended, the PCR testing began for all the leaders and team members. In spite of all of our precautions (everyone coming onto the property came in with a negative test), we had around 50 positive test results and a state-side “Dream Team” was born for those unable to travel overseas.

Our team was blessed to only lose one to a positive Covid test. The rest of the team packed up and we were only about an hour away from heading to the airport when Mr. Richard approached our team and told us that due to the Covid situation at the base we had to stay in Florida. It was hard for all of us; but we did eventually understand that it was God’s plan! The team was able to do a lot of projects on the property—tore up old sidewalks and put in new ones and cleaned up the property. I ended up getting Covid during the project time so I had to go home for 10 days. The main symptom I had was congestion. I was able to come back to the team on the last day of Debrief so I could go to the airport with them to say goodbye as they all headed home.

This fall I have the opportunity to go to Casa de Esperanza in Caranavi, Bolivia, on a mission trip with my church. We will be leaving on October 29th and will be coming back on November 10th. We will focus on completing a tile floor, as well as stuccoing and painting walls of the new building. We will also get to spend time with the children teaching them some Bible lessons and doing skits. We will serve in any other areas as needed. Please pray for good health and that God will use me.

On the home front, when I’m not at Teen Missions, I get the opportunity to volunteer with a homeless ministry in Titusville. On Monday nights we meet at a local park and a short message is given while they enjoy the hot meal we serve them. They are also able to take clothes and various other items they need. On Thursdays we serve a hot meal and they are given the opportunity to bathe. On Fridays we serve a hot meal, and go around the Titusville area to hand out food. I have been enjoying this opportunity to help. Through this God has been working in my life and blessing me, as well as those we serve.

I have also been involved in a couple of Bible studies with my church; and right now we’re doing 1,2,3 John. It has been nice to fellowship with the other ladies and learning a lot.

Thank you to all of my supporters and prayer partners! None of this could be done without you guys!!
