Sarah Evans (Fall 2020)
Dear Friends and Family,
Hoping and praying all is well with you. May you be richly blessed!
These past few months have been challenging for me, but it is in those times that Christ meets my needs. Summer was a blast! Some of us at TMI had weekly game nights—those were times when we shared fun and laughter. I was able to attend the graduation of a staff child that I had previously babysat. August was enjoyable. My sister Amanda and I attended a wedding for a couple that is part of Teen Missions. At the wedding we reunited with other people who participated with Teen Missions.
Currently I am working on the Land Crew. Every day I have various jobs to accomplish such as weeding, watering plants, and whatever else needs to be done. It’s always satisfying to see how nice the property is looking; and working with the crew is fun. My friend Alexandria and I like to joke and laugh together. One of my favorite parts of the week is the hour I spend in the Teen Missions Prayer Closet. I get a whole hour on Thursday afternoons to pray for all the different aspects of the ministry. Another day of the week that is special is Wednesday when we have a potluck lunch where all the staff bring a dish. The younger staff children (and those who are homeschooled) join us on that day.
Though our main U.S. ministry was cancelled this year, we were still able to connect with some teens through a program we launched called #MissionHere. Kids who were signed up to go on a team in 2020 were encouraged to join the program where we equipped them with evangelism resource packets to minister in their own communities. #MissionHere participants had several Zoom meetings where they were able to still receive missionary training and discipleship. We had almost 100 teens who participated!
We are now preparing for the summer of 2021. Teen Missions has opportunities for preteens and teenagers to minister during the summer, but there are also teams for adults to join. We can always use volunteers and love having them throughout the year. You will be changed forever by your experience with Teen Missions.
God has poured out such blessings on my life because of all the relationships He has given me. I am so thankful for all the prayers, encouragement, support and hugs from all of y’all. I had a great time visiting friends and family for a few weeks in August. I loved getting to share meals and fellowship with friends and family I haven’t seen in awhile. Each of you that receives this letter has somehow impacted my life.
Something that I have been doing in my free time is volunteering at a therapeutic horse farm. I’ve always liked horses and children; so, my life is touched and blessed each time I help out. I attend two churches and so I am getting closer to my church families. God has used these churches to provide healing in my life. I praise God for all the ways He has blessed me. I thank Him for the body of Christ. I know that these times can bring anxiety. One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”
This is my first newsletter, so I am asking for your help! I am looking for a heading for my newsletter like “Myers Moments” or “Petersen Post” that would be at the top. “Evans...” If you have a suggestion, send me an email or text. I will chose one and use it starting in my next letter!
In Christ,
Sarah Evans
