Sarah Evans Newsletter (Fall 2021)

Sarah Evans Newsletter (Fall 2021)

Dear Friends and Family,

Many different things have happened this year. I was responsible for the literature this year, so I put together the evangelism literature for all the summer teams. In May I was privileged to go with a staff lady to purchase shoes for the orphan team in Tanzania. The Tanzania team washes the orphans’ feet and gives them a new pair of socks and shoes. I also was put in charge of washing the shoes that were donated from the Mud Run.

Flexibility was important this summer. I was placed on the Honduras preteen team as an assistant leader. One of my Boot Camp responsibilities was the dishline. I got to become familiar with all the teams that came through my line. The night before the final day of Boot Camp I tested positive for Covid, so I was placed on the “Florida Dream Team’’ which included everyone who tested positive. I was disappointed, but I felt like God was going to work through the situation.

My job was to work in the kitchen and help cook for the team. Fellowshipping with the other lady leaders was such a blessing. I was also in charge of teaching Grubby to Grace to the four Preteens on our team. Working with the team members was rewarding as I helped them practice memory verses and just spent time getting to know them.  Some of their testimonies were heart gripping. The team was musically inclined and constantly worshipping the Lord. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all 45 team members.

During our daily library time I read a YWAM book that was life-changing. The morning devotions we had made me focus on the Lord more since I had a routine.

We had some sightseeing days that were fun! We went on an air-boat ride one day. The kids got their Starbucks and Chick-Fil-A in the Melbourne Mall. We also took them shopping at Target.  Another day we went to the beach—what a refreshing day! We also had a stop at Ron Jon’s Surf Shop.

During Debrief which consisted of several classes, I was able to learn a lot from the speaker who serves in Malawi, Africa. I was surprised by how much I gleaned from the Bible study. The summer had its difficult times, but God was faithful. I was encouraged by the fact that all the parents trusted God with their children. God really moved mountains this summer.

After my team, I had a three-week break to visit family and friends. I was refreshed and enjoyed going out to coffee and sharing meals with people I haven’t seen for awhile.

Thank you so much for your friendship and support. Thank you so much for your prayers. Let me know how I can pray for y’all.

In Christ,

Sarah Evans

Scripture from my morning devotions: Psalms 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
