Sarah Evans Newsletter (Winter 2021)

Dear Friends and Family,

What a bumpy year we had in 2020! Just want ya’ll to know that I was blessed by your prayers, friendships, and support. How rich I am to be surrounded by loving people. This past year had hard times for everyone, but it has been wonderful to see Christians serve one another along the way. God has shown his faithfulness to me each day. Here at TMI we spur one another on with encouragement. Our daily chapel is such a comfort and inspiration to me.

I attend two churches and I love them both. My church in Merritt Island has a worship night once a month. Worshipping with other believers has always been sweet to me. In December my church in Eustis had a women’s tea. There was plenty of delicious food and I enjoyed hearing some of the women’s testimonies.

The holidays at TMI are always fun. We had a gift exchange which was exciting! I counted the days down to Christmas and announced it each day to my co-workers. I love Christmas and deeply enjoy all the details that make it so special.

Something that I love about Teen Missions is that you meet so many delightful families. I grew up around big families and it’s such a blessing to have a community of believers. Once a week we spend an hour in the prayercloset. In that room we have photos of all the teenagers going on summer teams! I get pumped up looking at all the teenagers who have chosen to serve for a summer.

God is so good! My Christmas break was very restful. I had fellowship time with my dear friends. I also had time with family. My Mom and I watched Christmas movies together, and my Dad had a Christmas Eve party. On Christmas day we enjoyed dinner with other relatives. On the day after Christmas, my Mom and many of my siblings had Christmas together. I also visited with my birth Mom.

Despite the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, all of our overseas bases have continued ministry in some form. In the Philippines, government officials requested that the students and staff resume their Sunday school ministries. Not only are many children attending, but many parents are also attending. India has been providing relief with food and blankets. Honduras, which saw much devastation this summer/fall due to two hurricanes in addition to the Covid crisis, was given special permission to hold their two Boot Camps. Even though one was cancelled a few days in due to Covid, the other one was able to run in its entirety and send the teens to their projects. By the time you receive this letter, a container filled with food, clothing, blankets and other supplies, should have arrived in Honduras with the contents being distributed in the areas greatly affected by the hurricanes. Our goal is not only to help with the physical needs in these areas, but to also introduce them to the Good News of Christ.

Every day I need prayer that God will fill me with joy, and that He will strengthen me to work hard. Prayer is so important! If you could pray for the health of my family I would be very grateful. Feel free to send me prayer requests as well. God bless you in this new year of 2021.

In Christ,

Sarah Evans

Here is a wonderful piece of scripture.

Psalms 146:5-7

“ Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God 6 Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.”
