Clean water, bucket baths and more! (Albania)

What day was our traveling day and Tuesday? We arrived early morning. Our plane was delayed about two hours. We were quite a sight as we piled into a van, not quite big enough for the team, and the duffels were piled almost to the ceiling. We slept for a couple hours that night and settled in the next day and quickly realized we didn’t have enough water for everyone to have showered. It was a bit of a struggle getting the water situation figured out, but now we know that we are going back to half bucket Boot Camp showers! Today when we had some extra time, the team went and pulled weeds at the village church here. They are being a blessing wherever they go! It’s a 20 minute walk up and down the hills of the village to the camp. The team had two nights so far with the camp for disabled people, and they are enjoying meeting and interacting with the people there. They played a game tonight that everyone enjoyed. Tonight we celebrated Elise’s birthday with chocolate cake and candles. What a special girl!

Jonah B. Today we walked to the camp for disabled people, and we got to do our presentation for them. We sang a couple songs, did puppets and a testimony or two. Then Pastor Ermir preached. We had a translator, so he didn’t have to keep going back-and-forth between languages. After that, we hung out and had dinner with the Albanians and got to know them better. Then we walked back to the place we’re staying and had cake for one of our team member's birthdays.

Albania is a wonderful work of God‘s creation, and it’s been an honor to be in it for a few days. The walk to the camp we help out at is such a good reminder of the beauty of God‘s creation and gives the perspective of others’ lives in this world. The camp is so profound, seemingly little and in a large world, but it warms my heart to see, help, and be a part of a Christian community here so far away from home. It has also been awesome having great leaders that sacrifice their time to provide for us and make the experience much more meaningful.
