Hello from the Uganda team!

Things are going very well here in Jinja, Uganda! The team is doing great with all of the projects and ministry opportunities, and they are absolutely loving this beautiful country and welcoming people. There have been good conversations and lots learned in Bible study time, the devotions for guys and girls only (GGs), team time, and personal devotions. Everyone seems to be thriving and learning a lot!

Late on Friday night, all 43 of our bags arrived at the Teen Missions base! Our head leader, Mr. Jahswel, spent all day in the airport patiently waiting to receive our bags. After lots of delays and tested patience, it was such a blessing to finally have all of the things that we packed for the summer—praise the Lord! All of the team members stayed up late to wait for the bags, and then they finally got to sleep on their sleeping mats and sleeping bags. Many of the team members said that it was the best night of sleep yet! The next day, Saturday, the team got to sleep in after a late night, and then the lady leaders served a brunch of cinnamon rolls, bacon, and fruit. Everyone is loving the delicious, fresh fruit, like pineapples, mangos, and oranges. Lauren and Rainan were KP for the day, and they were very helpful and even made No Bakes for the team. Later that day the team got to help with the Sunday school that is hosted here at the base. Right along with the Bible students, they got to play games and sing songs with the many joyful children. It was so much fun being silly and playing with the kids while helping with this important ministry! The team also hosted an eyeglass clinic for the students here at the base. They got good practice giving eye exams to the Bible students. They finished up the day with learning about the different types of medicines that they would be handing out the next day at the medical clinic, as well as how to give malaria and typhoid tests to patients.
Sunday was a really good day for the team and packed full of new and exciting activities! The day started by walking to a local church, the “Nakabango Christ’s Church.” For many, it was their first African church experience, and they loved it. They found that it was very long, with the first 45 minutes just spent standing and praying! They also found that it was so joyful and fun. There was singing as well as dancing as the team joined the locals in praising and worshipping Jesus. The church’s love for the Lord was evident in their worship, prayers, welcoming attitude, and smiles. During the service, the team had the opportunity to sing two songs, and Jaxon and Cora shared their testimonies. Everyone did an awesome job, and many of the team members noted that it was the best they had ever sung those songs!

Later in the day the team headed out for their first medical clinic. After a delay with the bus that would be taking everyone, they arrived to an already long line of patients waiting to be treated along with so very many children. The team set up two medical stations where patients were checked out and treated and a pharmacy where the medications and tests were handed out. Genesis, Jake, Allison, Rainan, and Ivana helped to run the pharmacy where they handed out medications and gave malaria and typhoid tests. Seb, Nelson, Cora, Fiona, Sierra, Naomi, Lando, Lauren, Jaxon, and Liza took turns asking the patients questions, giving eye exams, taking care of any medical problems, greeting the patients waiting in line, and playing games and singing songs with the children. What a great experience to provide eyeglasses and medical care to those in need. Every patient was prayed over by the team members. Wordless bracelets and literature packs were given to the children as the love of Jesus was shared with them. It was extremely rewarding. When the team members came back to the base, they were glowing with the excitement of everything the Lord did through the clinic.

Today, Monday, the team got to start the work project here at the base. They are continuing to build the brick security wall around the Teen Missions property. A lot of the kids were so excited and eager to finally get a start on the work! KP for the day was Jaxon and Fiona. They have been so helpful, even helping to make pasta for the team.
Thank you everyone for your support and prayers, and for raising such awesome, hard working kids. They are representing Jesus well, and His light is evident in them. Lord bless you and keep you

This trip has been amazing. God has worked in my life so much and it’s only day 6. I love Uganda and its people. This trip has really taught me to depend on God. -Jaxon

Hi friends and family! Uganda is going great, we got to have our clinic at a school yesterday. We treated people and got to pray with them. Today we started building the security wall. God has blessed us with such a great team and I can’t wait to see all that He’ll do in our lives throughout the rest of the trip. - Fiona
