Sadagascar: The Beginning of the End
Monday, July 21
The last few days have been eventful and packed with sightseeing fun. The crew enjoyed finishing their project portion as they got the footer and everything ready for the foundation to be poured. In the afternoon, we went and enjoyed souvenir shopping. The team got to work on their bartering skills as they took over the Malagasy market. The biggest hits and most trending items were Vanilla, Soccer Jerseys, Sand Bottles, and Knives (don’t worry moms and dads, they’re confiscated til they head home to you, after that we can’t help). We finished the day with Pizza, Burgers, and Tacos as we hit up “La Gastro” in town. Both team members and the lady leaders enjoyed that outing, it gave the lady leaders a much needed night off! They have been killing it in the kitchen.

We packed up and embarked on our roughly six-hour journey to our sightseeing destination. The entire squad did an amazing job having good attitudes as they conquered the rough Madagascar terrain. When we arrived, the team had a beautiful time of taking pictures together and looking out at the panoramic site. It was awesome to just sit back and watch as they enjoyed fellowship with each other again. These moments will soon be gone so as leaders we are wanting to soak up every moment with your young people.
Wednesday, July 23
The morning started out with devos in the cool weather. The team enjoyed seeing caves and lemurs! I believe we were the lemurs highlight of the day as they received loads of bananas (I don’t have pictures for you due to the fact that I was watching the truck full of our supplies, sorry!). After our morning activities, we picked up camp and began the trek home. We made it back in a shocking 4 hours as the Madagascar base coordinator and two other Malagasy staff did a great job driving. Thank you to Mr. Mike, Mr. Fifa, and Mr. Landry! When we got back to the base, we began to clean the vehicles and start packing for our travels home.
Traveling Details:
We begin the journey home at 4 AM (Madagascar time) on Friday, July 25. We will venture to the Mahajanga Airport and catch our 1 hour flight to Antananarivo. There we will have a 18 hour layover that will be spent at a local church that is hosting us and some of it (Lord willing) will be spent at the Zoo there in the Capital. At around 10 PM (Madagascar time) on Friday, July 25 we will head back to the airport so that we can continue the rest of the way home.
One last thanks from Madagascar:
The Lord is faithful. Thank you for your prayers, love, and encouragement. We are so grateful for the opportunity to lead this team. Through it all, whether it’s imperfections on my part or stressful times that arise, God has been there. Thank you for allowing us to lead your youth, it’s a privilege and pleasure. We will see you soon.
Blessings
