Zambia

Zambia

Teen Trip ages: 13-19
Region: Sub Saharan Africa

Location: Ndola, Zambia

Dates of involvement: June 18- August 2, 2023

Ministry Focus: Work Projects, Children’s Ministry, First Aid Missions, Cross-Cultural Missions

The difference between health and illness or sight and blindness is often characterized by the access one can have to medical care.  The Zambia Eyeglass/First Aid team provides a unique opportunity to bring cost-free care to those who could otherwise not afford it nor have the means to travel to where it is offered.   As you experience the beauty of the area landscape and the contagious smiles of the people, you will also have the privilege of sharing the message of true spiritual healing found in the Gospel.  If you want to help others both physically and spiritually then this is the team for you.

Project Expense: $4990 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee
Ministry Project

After ten days of training in evangelistic techniques, first aid medical care and eyeglass testing at the Lord’s Boot Camp, your team will travel to the Teen Missions base in Ndola, Zambia. From Ndola, you will travel between several Teen Missions Rescue units in remote villages around Zambia to provide eyeglasses and first aid to the people around the unit who need it. While at the units, you will also have the opportunity to reach the people who come to your clinics with the care they need most of all, the Gospel. You will be able to employ the techniques you learned at Boot Camp to share the love of Jesus through puppet shows, dramas, Bible stories and games.

Travel and Sightseeing
After Commissioning you will bus to Orlando International Airport and board a flight to JFK in New York. From JFK you will fly to Lusaka, Zambia via Nairobi, Kenya.

While in Zambia, you will also get to spend some time enjoying some of the incredible sights and experiences the country has to offer. You will travel to Livingstone, named after the famous missionary David Livingstone, to see one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World, Victoria Falls. While in Livingstone, you will also get to take an evening cruise on the Zambezi river, where you might see elephants, hippopotamuses, crocodiles and other wildlife under a not-to-be-missed African sunset. You will also be able to barter in the market for handcrafted souvenirs ranging from drums, to wooden animals, to woven baskets and more.

If you are interested in participating in work that God has in store for the Zambia eyeglass/medical team, then register now to be a part!

Boot Camp
Boot Camp is a time of training to prepare the teams for their mission fields. Our Boot Camp program is designed to build team unity and provide practical, physical and spiritual training. We tailor each Boot Camp experience according to the skills needed for each team. This primitive training will be at the Teen Missions base in Merritt Island, Florida. A Commissioning Service will be held at the end of Boot Camp for all team members and leaders before flying out to their mission field.
Debrief
To cap off the summer experience, teams will return to the Teen Missions base in Florida for a shared Debrief time with other teams. The debriefing experience is essential to our summer team program for team members and leaders. During Debrief, the teams engage in different classes, allowing them to reflect on their summer and become equipped to take what they have learned on the mission field back home to their churches, youth groups, schools and communities. In addition, we focus on fellowship, sharing summer experiences amongst the teams and preparing them spiritually, mentally, and emotionally for their return home.
