A lot has happened since our last report!

On Thursday, the team worked and took the concrete out of the forms. They continued clearing bush for the road. In the afternoon, we traveled to a secondary school to hold a clinic. 95% of students at the school were muslim, giving us great opportunities to pray with them, and share the truth of Jesus. The team shared another Gospel presentation followed by giving out eyeglasses to the students and teachers. We brought a soccer ball that has the colors on it from the wordless bracelet. Abby R. shared the Gospel through explaining what the colors meant before we played. We were able to leave the ball with the headmaster as a gift and a reminder of the Gospel.

Friday was a full work day and was our final one. The team worked very hard to clear more of the road and fill 45 forms of concrete. We ended the night fellowshipping with the staff and interns. The lady leaders cooked a delicious meal that we shared with them. Mr. Enoch taught us a worship song in Swahili that means “Welcome Jesus in my heart.”

Saturday was our last full day at the Jipe base but it was quite packed! We left at 8am to host a clinic for a local village that requested us. When we first got there, there were only 2 kids and 3 adults waiting for eyeglasses. We prayed that the Lord would send more people and sure enough, He did! It ended up being our largest clinic yet. We even had packed up our clinic and ended up unpacking because of the ongoing stream of people. The team loved playing tag with the kids (they were faster than all of us) and performing puppet songs. The kid’s favorite was the balloon animals that we made for them. The Jipe base holds a Sunday School Circuit every Saturday morning so right as we returned from the first clinic, the team jumped in and did another presentation. We then ate lunch quickly and hopped back on the bus to drive to the lake. The team had wanted to go to Kenya ever since they knew it was just on the other side of Lake Jipe. There were 2 groups that went out to enjoy a boat ride and cross into Kenya. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), we didn’t see any hippos or crocodiles. We ended our last night in Jipe with s’mores and a fire.

This morning, Sunday, we attended a different church. Mr. Matthias preached from Ephesians on the armor of God. The team thoroughly enjoyed the worship and dancing. The church members were very hospitable and blessed us with soda afterwards. We returned back to the Rescue Unit and finished packing up. We said bye to the Jipe base and began our 3 hours trip back to the Kilimanjaro base. Our team loved our time in Jipe and serving the people there. We will miss Mr. Isaiah and the rest of the staff and interns that we have been privileged to get to know and serve alongside.

Please continue to pray for good health, protection, unity, and Gospel opportunities. We will host a clinic for the students and staff at the Kilimanjaro base this week and spend time fellowshipping with them. Lord-willing, we will have our sightseeing trip on Tuesday at the game park.

We praise God for all that He has done and will continue to do.
