Hallelujah praise the Lord!
We started our third week on the field with another homey service on the YFC property with just the team and our host missionary. Due to the camp that came in on Sunday and a conflict of scheduling, the church was unable to join us. It was good to dress up in our church clothes and spend time in worship led by Ms. Bekah and hear a message from Youth Pastor Luke.
With a camp back on property we went back to our two separate groups (the serve team and the work team). It’s been a learning curve for them as they learn what it is to be on both teams. Our team is learning to serve the Lord with hard manual work and humble service work. These students are working so hard and with such diligence. Praise God! Continue to pray for our team though as the never ending dish pile, dirty floors, or organizing can be really disheartening.
While we’re on the topic of the camp, it has been so good to see our students interact with the campers and build personal connections. We’ve played a lot of volleyball, basketball and soccer in our free time!
Our team on the worksite has accomplished so so much! The pool is being filled, the driveway is ground level, and we’re just working out the details and the finishing touches. One of those tasks being marking and cutting the pavers to be in a straight line to fit in those awkward spaces by the pool. In full transparency, a lot of our team has had a hard time figuring this out— even Mr. Joel and Mr. Luke couldn’t get it quite right. So when we swapped teams it was a funny conversation between Ms. Emma, Ms. Bekah, and the missionary managing the worksite as he personally requested Lena to be placed back on the worksite. Apparently she has been the only one to be able to do and accomplish this task well. It made us smile as leadership to know that our kids are recognized for the good and hard work that they do.
Recently, we’ve begun to utilize the market that we have in town. It’s about a 15 minute walk and a nice outing for the team members (and the leaders). We went out this last week to get snacks, drinks, and ice cream and it was a really good bonding moment for the whole team.
Thank you for all your prayers!
