“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” -Psalm ESV
Finishing out the week with so many things to praise the Lord for: The team almost completely finished the project in the barn! Hopefully if the rain subsides this next week then the team will go back to working by the pool and paving the driveway. Along with hospitality, serving, and maintenance work since there will be another camp to host this week. Pray for relationships built and more opportunities to share the Gospel!
On Friday, the team had an opportunity to go into the village with one of the missionary families to sing songs, share their personal testimonies and about the Good News of
Jesus. We walked around and gave presentations in two different locations to the groups of kids playing outside and the folks who were taking an evening walk. We also walked around and handed out Bibles and tracts. Despite their nerves, Geoff, Emory, Madison, and Antonio, all did such a great job sharing what God has done in their lives. As leaders, we are so proud of them for getting outside of their comfort zone and their willingness to do that for the Lord’s sake. At the end of the outing the local pastor hosted us at his church for a time of fellowship with soda and worship and a word of encouragement from Pastor Joel.
Saturday the team woke up and moved out of our dorms and back to the tents. Our team was so grateful for the opportunity and blessing it was to be set up in the dorms here on property. In full transparency, our team took moving back into tents better than our assistant leaders (Ms. Bekah would like to say that she has learned that she is no longer 12 years old and knows she needs an air mattress for tent camping. This mistake will not be made twice.)
However spirits were quickly lifted as we were all excited for our site seeing day in Sibiu. We walked around the city and went into the second largest church in Romania. The art that was displayed on all the walls was so incredibly unique and beautiful and the whole team was in awe.
As we walked through the town all of the coffee shops, little pastries, and all of the ice cream had our team (and the thought of a latte and espresso had the leaders) with our mouths watering. We also walked to the top of the St. Mary Evangelical Cathedral, which is almost 500 feet up and gave an incredible view of the city.
It was such a wonderful time with the team and in some final thoughts about our fun day: The students were great, the food was great, the shopping was great, and all the laughs and memories were great too. We, as the leadership, enjoy this time of year so much and the opportunity it gives us to pour into the lives of these students. Thank you to those of you who are reading this that helped get this team together. The Lord knew what He was doing.
TEAM MEMBER TESTIMONIES:
From Wesley
I’ve enjoyed my time here so far! The food is good. Working hard for the Lord has also been good. I do miss my mama though.
From Mary
The food is so good and I enjoy getting active on the worksite. I’ve liked the opportunity to see all the Romania architecture. I think that being able to do evangelism and see people so moved to receive Bibles is so cool. I really miss my family, Mrs. Kate, the Greens, the Simmons, and the Harners.
From Kaleigh
I’ve really enjoyed the food and all the campers that have come. I feel like God has opened the eyes of many of the Romanians and will continue to do so on this trip. I really miss my family and my dog. I really appreciate all of my supporters. Shout out to them!
