Medicine and mayonnaise

Another update from the Zambian bush! These past few days have been full of clinics, and the team has been working and growing together as they treat and minster to all the people here. On July 9, the team ran a clinic in Fungulwe. The clinic was set up right next to a women’s pregnancy center, and a few team members had the opportunity to treat a woman and her day old baby. The next two days the clinic was set up at the Funda rescue unit. The first day (July 10), we were nearly overrun with kids. Before we had even made it to the rescue unit, the bus was being chased by dozens of children. The next day wasn’t nearly as busy, yet the team was still able to help everyone that came through, whether with medicine or the gospel. Due to a shorter clinic that day, we were able to enjoy a “Saturday Sabbath.” Every day the team takes 30 minutes to rest, but during our Saturday Sabbath, we took an hour to just rest in the presence of the Lord. The rest of the evening was spent practicing a new and improved presentation for church the next day! Church was quite the experience. When we got there, we were asked to send our “praise team” up to the front to perform while people arrived. We don’t have a designated praise team, but Maddie, Ruth, and Levi quickly volunteered and did an amazing job singing and welcoming the congregation. The team did their presentation, and Mr Trey preached on Luke 9:57-62. Then, the church’s three amazing choirs sang and we listened to a few more speeches and announcements before enjoying the Cokes, Fantas, and cookies that the church so graciously provided for us! Another highlight from the past week is all the amazing meals the “W lunch ladies” have been coming up with. Some favorites have been chocolate cake (with mayo), breakfast skillet with bacon (and mayo on top), and taco bowls with street corn (cooked in mayo). Please be praying for strength and energy, both mental and physical, as the team begins to wrap up their time here in Wangabisha. Prayers for continued health and the healing of a few colds and stomach issues would be very much appreciated as well!

Hello! I am enjoying my time in Zambia! It has been so fun to meet so many kids! They always smile and wave at us! Clinic has honestly been a little scary for my but the Lord has been teaching me a lot of things through it! It is pretty cold at night and the squatty potties are an experience! Anyways God has been so good! Bye! - Abi Chicas

Hi everyone! Things in Zambia are going well. We have been doing a lot of clinics. I can’t speak for everyone but the other day the med station I was working at had 9 people accept Christ! Though it’s been encouraging, we’ve also seen a lot of hard things. The other day, I got the chance to treat a girl. We helped to clean her wound and get her started on the road to recovery. She’s 12 years old and her name is Macy. Please keep her in your prayers. - Kenna P.

One thing I noticed while doing clinic is that most are thankful for what you gave them. But some people wanted more stuff. I gave one person eye drops but he also wanted glasses but his eyes were fine. - Jesse F.

Hey everyone! Things are going well in Zambia! The clinics have been a really great opportunity to meet and evangelist to the people here, and it has been really cool to see God’s work in the lives of people overseas. I’m excited to see what else God will do. - Maddie S.

Hi everyone! I’ve been having a great time here in Zambia. We’ve been playing lots of soccer with kids (Emery, you better watch out!) and have had the chance to help so many people through our clinics. We went to church today and heard some truly beautiful singing. They have such energy in their worshiping. I really enjoyed being able to talk with and get to know the patient I’m treating. See y’all soon! - Piper M.

Hey guys! Greetings from our homey little campsite right smack dab in the middle of the African bush. We’ve been staying steadily busy in our military-esque tent kitchen, coming up with creative ways to feed the team while they’re at clinic and also finding uses for our massive jug of mayo. I’ve perfected my peanut butter and jelly-less sandwich making technique, and am learning how to make stuffed yeast rolls on a charcoal brazier. What a time. Miss you all! - Miss Helen

Hi mom! God has been good to us here in Zambia! We’ve had great food, pretty good health, and safe travels. I have loved seeing all the team members grow in their confidence with sharing the gospel and caring for others! Here, I have been learning how to teach God’s word to others and rely on the Holy Spirit in everything. I miss you all at home! - Mr Andrew
