Praise the Lord for giving us a day of rest! This day is already looking very different for the Honduras Team. We slept in 1 hour and got to have a longer personal devotion time. Now, the team is taking a quiet prayer walk on the long lush green dirt road that winds to this base. They get to enjoy God’s creation and talk to Him, then share afterward what He’s saying or impressing on them. Iron is sharpening iron here as we grow in the Lord together and encourage one another in our faith. Next, they’ll sit outside with a full view of the hazy jungle mountains and get to choose a Scripture verse to illustrate with acrylic markers and choice paper. What a day to reflect on all the good gifts from the Lord. We’re rejoicing in it! He’s done so much for us. All are healthy, we’ve been able to be here for 2 weeks, and SO MUCH work has been accomplished! Thank you for praying! All of the leaders and volunteers for their Honduran preteen bootcamp have arrived; the 60-80 preteen team members arrive tomorrow (Monday) and hit the ground running their obstacle course already! The past days have been very physically demanding as our team members have served faithfully. With machetes in hand, our team has cleared vast swaths of land for tent sites and overall excellent management of this base’s property. They’ve persisted through blistered hands (even with gloves on!) to tame the tropical vegetation. Since it rains HARD every day, each tent’s footprint needed trenches dug around it, so we dug. Two-man tents were configured, erected and secured. Finally, each tent needed a rain-proof tarp fastened to the ground and tent. As preteens arrive tomorrow, our team will continue helping set all of this up. We will serve as obstacle course judges for several days and give the preteens our presentation too. No telling how else we’ll be used in their Boot Camp! Tonight we have a Fun Night planned with a bonfire and marshmallows! An additional praise here is that 16 piglets were surprisingly born early on Thursday night (6 haven’t survived) and our team members got to learn some veterinarian skills as they assisted vaccinating and warming the litter. Please pray for stamina and strength for the 3 more work days we have here in Honduras. That we would give our best in the time we have left and that we would love each other well as brothers and sisters in Christ.
We have grown so close! Mucho blessings!
The Lord has showed me so much from being here. He’s showing me that he’s all I can depend on, and that is all I need and that he’s always been there and I just need to listen. - Abby V.
Hey guys! I have been trying to take lots of pics for you all. Everyone here is super nice and I am excited to go souvenir shopping and bring you home stuff. I am loving it here and lowkey dreading going back to school. -Kate T.
Hi Joy, Hi Mom! Hi Megan! This trip is just indescribable. I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else (no offense, I still miss you guys) someone on my team said it’s kind of like Little House on the Prairie. I love my team lol. Even though I’m the youngest, they’re all so nice to me. We are helping a tween bootcamp out at the base. We spent 3 days chopping grass with machetes. I’ve been learning Spanish and learning to grow my faith every day. Talk in about 7 days!- Vivian B.
I’ve been been truly opened to the goodness of God, and I am truly thankful for it. - Tavayn S.
On our walk today, I noticed the rocks are small. God makes the big mountains in our life small like those rocks and puts them under our feet. He is good and has been teaching me quite a lot! - Claire G.
