Team Zambia, fluid and flexible

Good morning from Zambia!! We are on day 4 living out of our tents in the bush of Wangibisha and the team is doing great! We’ve gotten into somewhat of a rhythm this week but we’ve been keeping true to the Teen Missions way of staying “fluid and flexible” as each clinic day looks a little different. Our kitchen tent has been producing some delicious meals as well as hot tea for the team in the mornings to warm up during morning devos. Clinic so far has been hosted from right here at the Wangibisha base. The team can walk to set up clinic and evangelism as well as take breaks in shifts for lunch. We are scheduled to host 2 clinics per location, however plans had a minor change as our bus had to be taken in for repairs. Today instead of clinic the team helped here at the Wangibisha base cleaning up trash as well as helping the students shuck and bag corn, although this is not what they thought they had signed up for, the team had great attitudes about the change of plans! We are hopeful to, by tomorrow, be hosting clinics outside of the Wangibisha base and get back on schedule, but we trust that the Lord is not surprised by our schedule change and we are making the most of our time here on our off day while the bus is being repaired to work on more songs and testimonies to share during our next church service. Each clinic day we have set up a check in station/waiting area, 3 medical stations, one eyeglass station, a pharmacy, and kids/entertainment station as well as cycling through prayer closet. Each station has made it a priority to share the Gospel with everyone we encounter and trust that the Lord has a plan for each person whether we are able to help them or not. Our first clinic day we saw many people for both eyeglasses and medical needs. it was a little chaotic as everyone figured out a good flow, but the Lord is good and each group had a great experience. The second Wangibisha clinic day was much slower with about half the number of patients coming for eyeglasses and medical needs, however we still got the chance to share and experience people coming to know and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. After clinic the team has gotten caught up on bucket laundry & baths which always boosts morale! After clinic and bath & laundry we have had what we’re calling a “clinic debrief”. Since not everyone sees the same thing everyday this is time where the team has a chance to share what they saw and how it affected them. It’s important to process each day like this as there are people who come in with chronic illnesses or pains that we as a small clinic with basic medicine and no doctors can truly help with, however we make sure to remember that the most important thing is that each person, helped or not, was introduced to the Gospel, some for the very first time. Once we debrief as a team we do “quiet 30” where the team can journal, read, nap, pray, make bracelets, etc. quietly on their own. The team has enjoyed Bible study together walking through the Psalms as well as the girls and guys separatedstudies walking through what it means to be a godly gentleman and godly woman. During evening devos the team enjoys sharing about what the Lord has been doing in their lives as well as ending the day with worship and praising the Lord for the day followed by singing our team songs and praying to end the night. Thank you so much for your prayers for our team!! Here are some short testimonials about the past few days from a few team members!!

“The field has been good so far. The Lord has been very good to us. We have had lots of free time which has been nice to meditate on the Lord and doing memory verses. Lots of people have been very receptive to the Gospel and one or two have their name put in the Book of Life. What a blessing! Overall 8/10” - Levi S.

“Hey everyone! Yesterday was our second clinic, and I got the opportunity to work at one of the medical stations. A moment that stood out happened right as we were closing. Two more patients walked up so we set back up and we were able to treat them. But more importantly, after sharing the gospel with the lady named Anna, she asked if we could help her accept Christ as her Lord and Savior! Her name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of life. Praise God!” - Sophia G.

“I had the privilege of meeting two kids (1yo and 6yo) when working medical in the clinic. We tested both of the kids for malaria and the 6 year old tested positive. Even though he was sick he was so joyful. We had the opportunity to explain the gospel to him and give him a wordless bracelet. He was so excited to revive the bracelet and we were able to give him malaria medication, but we also left him and his family with the story of Jesus. His joy despite difficult conditions was so inspiring!” - Hannah W.

“One thing that God has helped me with in my time in Zambia is humility. Seeing how little these people have, but how joyful they are to have a savior in times of blessings. These experiences will help me to be glad that I am blessed so much. Everything is given by God and I’m so glad that throughout the billions of people he loves me so much to give me all my blessings.” - Luke C.

“I love all the letters! Hey guys we have been in Zambia for 8 days now. We have had 2 clinics and they’re so grateful and amazing we have been able to help so many people. We have 3 stations I’ve done child care and eyeglasses. The only one I haven’t done is medical but I think I’m going to today. It’s been so inspirational and humbling here. I’ve had so many amazing experiences when it comes to the power of prayer and how the Lord can do anything. P.S. please bring some candy!!” - Audrie R.
