Two Less Toilets in Peru!

Hola amigos! We have almost been here in Peru for a week, and the team has been having a wonderful time settling in and finding a routine. The team has 3 main projects that we have been working on to help out the school. First, we have been tearing down and rebuilding the roof on the boys' dorm, which the team has made quick work of. While on the roof, there were unfortunately two casualties, as hammers were dropped onto some toilets. Second, we have been working on replacing and adding a new waterline in order to help the water flow to the many buildings. Third, the team has been clearing out an old building to demolish it safely. Additionally, a few of the team members have gotten opportunities to play with the primary school children and help out in the classrooms. On Sunday, we got the chance to do our presentation for the first time in the church on the school property that we are staying at. It was awesome to see all of that hard work from classes at Boot Camp come together. Although we were sad to miss the Fourth of July in the States, we were able to celebrate with an American style lunch of hamburgers, macaroni salad, watermelon, and sodas. Isaiah R, Ella B, and Silas T helped the ladies in the kitchen to prepare the special meal. We also all got to go out to the local mall to walk around, buy snacks, and eat dinner out, which was a fun morale booster. God has been so good to us. We would appreciate if you continued to pray for safety during work, especially with the roof job as well as health for everyone. Pray that we would continue to grow in unity and rely on the strength of the Lord.

Isaiah R We have officially been in the country of Peru a week. All of us here have been enjoying renovating the roof helping out in classrooms and playing with the kids, although we all miss home once in a while.

Gabe - Peru is awesome we have pretty much finished the roof we were renovating and are starting to demo one of the buildings. I feel like I’ve gotten closer to God and have been building great friendships here. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for us next.

Silas T - I have been really enjoying Peru. It is very nice and the weather is great. We have made very good progress on the roof and we hope to finish it soon. We have been enjoying playing games with the kids here, even though it is difficult communicating with them. I feel that God is really working through us to impact the people here in Pucallpa.

Josiah L - Hi Mom and Dad. I am in Peru. I wear sunglasses all day. It’s so cool. I love sunglasses. I read a book. I enjoy using my Spanish to converse with the locals. I really like my travel group. My high yesterday was going to the mall. The food is so good here. I love digging ditches.
