“Whenever It Rains and Pours” I Will Trust You, Lord!

We get a POURING rain every day,so when we hear it coming, those folks with clothes on lines sprint to beat the drenching rain! There is work enough for about 10 teams here, but here’s a taste of what we’ve been doing to get the base ready for 60 preteens coming soon. The obstacle course slough was dug out to be wider and deeper. Many loads of rubble/rock was hauled to their approach road to fill in sharp dips and muddy holes. About 120 elementary kids came to this base for a field trip, so we played, presented the Gospel through our presentation, and mingled with them. Saturday was a day of rest for the team, where we didn’t do any physical work or ministering and overall it just looked different. Mr. Robbie led them on a quiet prayer walk down the remote road leading to this base. He then gave them alone time to hear from the Lord. The quotes in this report will be what they shared after that intentional time with God. For the night of July 4th, we planned a fun night with a campfire and marshmallows to roast. It was great to kick back and just talk while a guitar strummed in the background. Today we attended a children’s church service where our team members performed and gave testimonies to share the Gospel. Alyssa L. led off in the music, while others danced and worked the puppets. The pastor of this service was actually saved about 25 years ago when Teen Missions students shared the Good News with him as a small boy…and now he leads a church and Teen Missions ministered to his youth! The base coordinator here, Ben, told us that the work we do here will continue to bear fruit for years to come. How encouraging! The pastor then treated all of us to a Honduran favorite- baleadas. This is a hot flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cream, and salty crumbling cheese. We came back and made a gluten free version for Abby V. (she’s such a trooper!). Currently, we have one team sharpening points on poles they’ve cut in order to make tents for the Honduran preteens arriving for Boot Camp in 8 days. A second team is cutting up about 100 donated papayas for these preteens to eat during Boot Camp. The seeds, peelings, and pulp must each be separated. We will keep working hard in the days to come and lean into our devos! We’ll visit 3 schools with hundreds of kiddos on Wednesday! Pray for strength and good health and for them to lean into what the Lord is saying to them. Oh and four piglets were born yesterday! That’s income for the base!

I don’t think I’ve given Jesus enough time to speak. I learned today not to rush through things: it’s not that God is not speaking, but do I take time to listen?” Abby V.
