Philippines

Philippines

Teen Trip ages: 13-19
Region: Southern Asia

Location: Butuan City, the Philippines

Dates of involvement: June 18 - August 2, 2024

Ministry Focus: Work Projects, Children’s Ministry, Overseas Boot Camp, Cross-Cultural Missions

The Philippines, home to over 7,000 islands, is a distinctive and beautiful country filled with congenial people. Imagine pristine, crystal-clear waters and mountains cloaked in lush jungles—it's like stepping into a real-life postcard!

You and your team won't be there for just the views. The Philippines is home to some of the world's friendliest and most warm-hearted people, the Filipinos! And here is where the adventure truly begins: You will be teaming up with Teen Missions national missionaries to make an impact as you disciple Filipino teens at the Philippines Boot Camp.

Imagine the strategic ministry results when national youth who know the language and culture are going out on teams to reach the Philippines for Christ.

The Philippines is waiting for you, and it's going to be a summer you will  never forget!

Estimated Project Expense $4990 plus $30 Registration Fee

Ministry Project

Once you touch down at the Teen Missions base in the Philippines, your very first project is mixing and pouring a concrete driveway. This will be meeting a huge need, because during the rainy season the roads to the base become a muddy mess.

You will also have the opportunity  to do children's ministry in the local villages. Think fun games, sharing engaging Bible stories, dramas, and some puppetry magic with the kids! The local kids will capture your heart as they are super friendly and excited to get to know your team.

For the final part of your ministry focus, you and your team will play a key role in our missions program in the Philippines. Your team will overlap with our Filipino Boot Camp that is happening on the base. Whether it's teaching classes, being the judges for the Obstacle Course, or lending a hand wherever it's needed, you'll be right in the action!
Travel and Sightseeing

Following Boot Camp, your team will travel from Orlando to Manila, the capital of the Philippines via Los Angeles. After going through customs, you will board a flight to Butuan City. A short bus ride will take you to your final destination at the property of the Teen Missions in The Philippines base.

The Philippines is known for their huge shopping malls and you will have the chance to shop at one or more when you visit Butuan City. You may also have the opportunity to experience their famous “Jollibee” —their version of McDonalds. On the way back to Florida, you will spend a day in Manila where you will shop for handmade crafts and artistry.

Boot Camp
Boot Camp is a time of training to prepare the teams for their mission fields. Our Boot Camp program is designed to build team unity and provide practical, physical and spiritual training. We tailor each Boot Camp experience according to the skills needed for each team. This primitive training will be at the Teen Missions base in Merritt Island, Florida. A Commissioning Service will be held at the end of Boot Camp for all team members and leaders before flying out to their mission field.
Debrief
To cap off the summer experience, teams will return to the Teen Missions base in Florida for a shared Debrief time with other teams. The debriefing experience is essential to our summer team program for team members and leaders. During Debrief, the teams engage in different classes, allowing them to reflect on their summer and become equipped to take what they have learned on the mission field back home to their churches, youth groups, schools and communities. In addition, we focus on fellowship, sharing summer experiences amongst the teams and preparing them spiritually, mentally, and emotionally for their return home.
