Tanzania

Tanzania

Teen Trip ages: 13-19
Region: East Africa

Location: Tanzania

Dates of involvement: June 18 – July 26, 2024

Ministry Focus: Work Projects, Children’s Ministry, Cross-Cultural Missions

Waking up each morning at our Tanzania base, you'll be greeted by the breathtaking sight of Mount Kilimanjaro—the tallest mountain in Africa—providing an unforgettable and majestic view. The people of Tanzania will welcome you as you provide medical assistance as well as reading glasses to people in need. In a country where a great number are still Muslim, they need to hear the Gospel! If you would love to experience the beautiful Massai and the landscape of Tanzania, as well as serve God through missions, this is the team for you!

Project Expense: $4990 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

Ministry Project

For your project, you will be traveling to remote villages providing reading glasses and basic first-aid.  As you travel beneath the rugged foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will also have the privilege of sharing the Good News through puppets, dramas, songs and story-telling that you learned at Boot Camp.

Travel and Sightseeing

Following Boot Camp, you will bus to Orlando International Airport for a flight to JFK International Airport in New York. From there you will fly to Nairobi, Kenya and then board a continuing flight to Kilimanjaro. After a 40-minute bus ride, you will arrive at the Teen Missions base where you can easily view (when the clouds are willing) beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free standing mountain!

While in Tanzania you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a safari into Ngorongoro Crater National Park where you will most likely see some of the Big 5 animals (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, and cape buffalo). You’ll also get to visit local markets to shop and take home souvenirs such as Tanzanite jewelry, wood carvings, and drums to help you remember your trip to Tanzania.

Boot Camp
Boot Camp is a time of training to prepare the teams for their mission fields. Our Boot Camp program is designed to build team unity and provide practical, physical and spiritual training. We tailor each Boot Camp experience according to the skills needed for each team. This primitive training will be at the Teen Missions base in Merritt Island, Florida. A Commissioning Service will be held at the end of Boot Camp for all team members and leaders before flying out to their mission field.
Debrief
To cap off the summer experience, teams will return to the Teen Missions base in Florida for a shared Debrief time with other teams. The debriefing experience is essential to our summer team program for team members and leaders. During Debrief, the teams engage in different classes, allowing them to reflect on their summer and become equipped to take what they have learned on the mission field back home to their churches, youth groups, schools and communities. In addition, we focus on fellowship, sharing summer experiences amongst the teams and preparing them spiritually, mentally, and emotionally for their return home.
