Hello family and friends of the South Africa team

Hello family and friends of the South Africa team

The week is nearly finished! The team has been faithfully working on a couple different projects around the base. They have finished painting the ceiling and the rafters. They have now started painting the interior walls of the dorm.

A separate crew has been working on digging new squatty potties for the Boot Camp. The goal is to dig the hole 6 ft deep, 6 ft long, and 3 ft wide. The dirt is hard clay making the digging hard work, but the team seems to be taking it in stride.

The team has also started scraping the peeling paint off of the front wall of the property. They will be outlining the words and getting it ready to be repainted.

The team has enjoyed a couple of bonfires recently. They’ve been in the evening when the team does their team devotions time. However even the fire doesn’t create enough warmth, so generally you can see the team wrapped in their blankets standing by the fire.

The team members have really enjoyed chatting with the staff and students here at the base. They even got to watch some of the students make some traditional South African food. The students are hilarious and are a good encouragement to the team members.

Today the team members received clothes that they had been able to have made. The staff ladies run a small side job of sewing clothes. This evening many of the team members could be seen in dresses and shirts made of African textiles.

The team looks forward to more evangelism this weekend. They will be attending Sunday school on Friday afternoon. On Saturday they will be helping out at a soup kitchen. Then in the afternoon the team plans on going for a hike up one of the mountains.

“It’s been colder then I thought it would be. The base is really nice. We have nice comfy beds and hot showers. The sunsets are beautiful. The Bible students are pretty cool. I’ve grown a lot in my relationship with God and I’ve learned so much.” - Aidan U.

“When I got to South Africa it was freezing. So I went and bought a blanket. I feel like I’m growing closer and closer to God. I’ve been able to understand His word better and how to live for Him. The leaders are cool and my teammates are chill. The leaders even made biscuits!” - Naia B.

We’re excited for what God has next!
