Montana

Good evening from team Montana!

All 24 team members have safely arrived and have their feet on Boot Camp soil. Over the last two days, the team has been in many long hours of orientation classes. Boot Camp can be quite a shock to many young people. During orientation the kids were briefed on: drama class and the skill of improvisation, devotions and the need for personal walk with the Lord, the basics of the Obstacle Course and many other classes that will be critical for thriving as a missionary.

The kids have all had their first bucket baths and have found this to be refreshing. They have also started washing their clothes by hand in their buckets. This has been a process for many of the them. Ella and Ellie have discovered that it is easiest to twist the clothes to wring the water out of them. While Candice was washing her clothes she discovered that she had a fish in her bucket! The girls were very excited to figure out how to get the fish safely out of her bucket. Elijah and Albert taught the team the reason why you need to keep your mouths closed while you are taking a bucket bath.

Today the team began their training. Our first class of the day was drama where they learned the first part of the drama “Colors”. Colors is a depiction of the Gospel through mime drama. Tobias, Phoenix, Elijah and Matthew were asked to learn the part of God. They have been doing a great job! In Blocklaying classes the kids were taught how to mix mortar and how to lay blocks. Although it took a few tries, everyone got the hang of a perfectly mixed batch along with the perfected pyramid shaped line to seal the blocks. Hannah excelled in this class—she was a great blessing to many of the team members who had never laid block before.

We have been blessed to see the kids grow together the past three days. Thank you for sharing your kids with us this summer! We are excited to see the wonderful opportunities that God will provide the team with in the future.
