Sweden Team Delayed In Paris
Well, as you can see from the title of this report, our team is currently delayed in Paris! We had a very short one hour and forty minutes schedule as a layover in Paris when we started our journey to Sweden last night, and after a 30 minute mechanical delay before leaving Orlando, that window to make our connection grew even shorter. The airline was aware of this and had an escort waiting to meet our group as we deplaned in Paris. They were able to fast-track us to the front of the immigration (because we were entering the European Union) and security check-point lines, but with 23 people in those lines and a couple of shuttle and train rides to get across the massive airport we arrived at our departure gate just moments too late. The captain had already made the call to have our bags removed from the plane and (despite the best efforts of the ground crew to hold the plane) he was leaving without us.
But God is still good and, in this case, so was the airline! They took full responsibility for our situation and worked quickly to set us up with a new flight for tomorrow morning, a hotel voucher for tonight, (including dinner and breakfast), and vouchers for 15 Euros per person to spend anywhere in the airport. We are currently resting in our hotel rooms before we go down to dinner, and are looking forward to showers and comfy beds tonight before we head back to the airport on the 7am shuttle tomorrow morning.
A night in Paris is not exactly what we had in mind, but we trust in the sovereignty of our God and are excited to see how he continues to work in our lives this summer. Our matching travel clothes have already sparked several conversations with folks wondering where we’re going and what we’re doing, and we trust that we’re right where He wants us to be tonight even if it’s not where we thought we would be. I don’t have a photo to share right now, but the team is in good spirits and making the best of the situation. Lord willing, we’ll have an arrival photo to share with you all tomorrow.
Thank you all for your love and prayers, we’ll catch you again when we get there!
