Welcome to our first day without rain this week!

Welcome to our first day without rain this week!

Welcome to our first day without rain this week! Our kids are so excited that they can finally have some dry clothes they have washed. I say clean very liberally—we have had lots of lessons in how to wash clothes in a bucket but it is definitely a learning experience! They are getting better at it each and every day. The different techniques they have found for washing their hair have been interesting, to say the least. My favorite is using a cup to dump water on my hair; however, they all still seem to prefer dumping the buckets on their friends' heads!

We finished all of our block-laying classes today! I think block-laying is one of the team's favorite classes, which is good considering that is the majority of our work project this summer! The rest of the week we have more construction classes and evangelism classes to further train us for Malawi. We started learning how to effectively use our music in churches for presentations. It is cool to hear their introductions to remember that everyone comes from different places. We have a few who traveled here from California and Alaska!

As I write this, our kids are getting ready to go to the pool! However, it comes at the price of cleaning the bathrooms. In our bathrooms here we bucket flush, meaning that they must dump buckets of water into the toilet bowl to flush. Just another glorious part of training for overseas missionaries! They have been asking all week when they get to clean the bathrooms. Apparently, they saw the correlation between the pool and bathroom cleaning and thought that was a more casual way to ask when they would get a nice cool chlorine bath!

Our team is busy preparing and eagerly awaiting our trip to Malawi! They are so excited every time they get mail or emails from you, and I love seeing them share with each other pictures or funny stories you share with them. We will share more with you all soon!

"Boot Camp is hot and you get tired easily. However, it makes you learn to appreciate A/C and home." - Logan S.

"The best class at Teen Missions is block-laying and the food is good." - TJ S.

"Boot Camp has been fun but hard too, but I really like it!" - Judah S.
