Healthy and Strong!

Healthy and Strong!

Healthy and Strong!
07/15/21
Field report #5
Coming to you today healthy and strong! Everyone is feeling great and working hard on the job site. While we are (you guessed it) still painting away at all the buildings on the base, we’ve also had a few side projects to break up the painting. A big tree was presenting a problem with where it was growing, so some professionals came and cut it mostly down. We had a fun time watching them take the tree down! We hauled off all of the branches and now we will get to take down the rest of the stump ourselves. We also re-framed and re-screened the windows in the brick room on the side of the guest house where we cook for the team. A few team members also got to put putty on several other windows on the buildings around the base. One of the favorite side projects was that we finally got to mix and pour concrete into the wall we had prepped many days ago. Now we are waiting on the concrete to dry and set before we do anything else to the wall. We also haven’t forgot about the building we took the roof off of. Since this isn’t the rainy season, there isn’t a rush to getting the roof on right away, but we have plans in the very near future to put on the roof!
The weather has gone from cold to colder. The other morning, our hand washing buckets were iced over! The cold weather in the mornings makes it hard to move, but by lunch, everyone seems to have thawed out. We are very thankful for the big fuzzy blankets we bought the first week we were here. For fun, we looked up the weather in East London, where we would have been before our plans changed, and it was 15 degrees colder! We all agree that would have been miserable and are very thankful for God’s ways over our own ways.
In the evenings, we have been enjoying singing songs together as a team and hearing devotions/testimonies from each team member as they take their turn. We are really becoming like family and growing close to one another.
From the team:
Kyra S.:
Hello! It’s been good here in South Africa, I’ve really enjoyed being here and serving the Lord. The weather has been cold in the mornings and hot in the afternoons, not unlike where I live in Oregon. We’ve been painting a lot and getting a few other projects done around the property that have been really fun. I loved taking the roof off a house and demolishing, and then fixing, a wall. The people are so nice here and I love being able to serve with my amazing team. I can’t wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us.
Seth D.:
It is alright here, mornings are cold. Meals are very good and the store runs are a high in the week. Can’t wait to be on the plane. 16 MORE DAYS!!
