Stories from South Africa 2:

Our team has been knocking out the work projects here on the base! We’ve almost finished painting the large guest house, so we’ve begun painting several other buildings on the base. They are painting the concrete a maroon color and the bricks grey. We are waiting on supplies to finish construction on the building we took the roof off of, but it is prepped and ready to go. The ladders we use here are different than the ones we use in the USA, so some of the team members, like Abby S., are a little nervous to go up the ladders to paint. They are all conquering their fears though.
On Saturday, several of the staff and Bible students here played a game of soccer with some of our team members. The children of the staff members have also begun to open up to our kids and play with them more. Since we are quarantined on the base, we had Sunday church service here. One of the Bible students, Peace, preached a sermon and the South Africa 1 team performed their presentation. It will be our turn to perform next Sunday, but Aaron B. played the role of God in the drama Colors for South Africa 1. Sunday was a very relaxing day to play more sports and practice quizzing. Abigail D, Donovan T, Simon S, Caleb H, Aaron B, Kate C, and Faith P. all quizzed out!
The team has been enjoying watching the sunset in the afternoon and the stars in the evening. The other night, Faith P. played the guitar and we sang worship songs by a fire with the other team. The stars were all out and it was a beautiful night. Most of our team members bought blankets and have been enjoying walking around wrapped up like burritos.
From the team:
Abby S.- Hi mom and dad! South Africa has been cold in the early mornings but it warms up pretty quickly. I love watching the sunset every evening and playing soccer with the people here. We are praying that the president will lift the restrictions so we can go out and do some evangelism. Our team has gotten very close and it is so fun living with each other.
Kate C. - Hi to all my family back home!! What we’ve seen of South Africa is absolutely gorgeous, especially the sunset. So far we haven’t been able to leave the base, but hopefully soon the Lord will open up doors for us to go out and do some evangelism. It gets pretty cold in the mornings and evenings, but is very good weather throughout the rest of the day. It’s been so amazing living with the team and getting to know them like family! The people here at the base are wonderful and so inspiring and on fire for the Lord!
