We are packing up to head home tomorrow!
Today is a day you look forward to but also feel bad about. We are packing up to head home tomorrow, but we will miss the staff and students here at the base. We are looking forward to heading to Debrief and seeing our families, but we will leave a “family” behind here also. We have had a great time getting to know the TMI South Africa staff and students and know better how to pray for them as we go home. They shared a few things after chapel this morning about how they appreciated the team coming and answering their prayers to get some of the work done here. They urged the students to continue on serving the Lord is whatever He asks them to do.
Earlier in the week, we were able to go to a little market that had some handcrafted items, to purchase any last minute souvenirs we could get. Then we went home and had a fun time hosting the staff and students for a meal. We made noodles for them since they don’t get noodles very often. Also had green beans, rolls and their most favorite, chocolate cake with chocolate icing. They don’t bake a lot here so they really like the cakes and brownies! The next day we had the Yoder family come and share about their ministry and how the Lord led them to South Africa. Wednesday, we had a team banquet where the leaders decorated, made and served a meal of baked chicken, parmesan potatoes, country mixed veggies with cheese sauce, and finally, strawberries, ice-cream and lemon cookies! We revealed our Secret Prayer Partners, who we have been praying for this summer. It was a fun night ending with games and devotions.
We went yesterday to get our Covid tests and PTL, we were all negative! We appreciate your prayers as we finish packing, then head to Johannesburg airport after lunch. We fly out at 6:50 PM Saturday night. With stops in Paris and Atlanta, we should be arriving in Orlando on Sunday at 6 PM.
We really have enjoyed our time here and being about to help the base out in this way. We will miss the people here and the commitment we have seen in their lives to the Lord.
